Xbox Game Pass adds Echo Generation 2 and The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition today

Xbox Game Pass has added two more games today, giving subscribers a mix of a brand new sci fi deckbuilding RPG and an upgraded version of one of Obsidian’s best known RPGs. Echo Generation 2 and The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition are both now available through the service, although access depends on your Game Pass tier.

Echo Generation 2 is the new day one release in this batch. It is available on Xbox Series X and S, PC, and cloud for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members. The game is described as a sci fi deckbuilding RPG where you build a crew, master different decks, and investigate a growing cosmic threat.

That makes it a very different kind of Game Pass addition from the usual action games, shooters, or open world releases. Deckbuilding RPGs usually depend on smart card choices, party building, and long term strategy, so Echo Generation 2 could appeal to players who want something slower and more tactical.

The Outer Worlds returns in its upgraded Spacer’s Choice Edition

The second addition is The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, which is available on Xbox Series X and S, PC, and cloud for Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass members. This version includes the base game and all DLC, making it the most complete way to play Obsidian’s space RPG.

The Outer Worlds is especially useful for players who missed the original release or never played its expansions. The Spacer’s Choice Edition includes both story DLCs, which means subscribers get the full package without needing to buy extra content separately.

Its arrival also comes at an interesting time because the original version of The Outer Worlds has been tied to a confusing upgrade and delisting situation. Some owners expected a free upgrade to the Spacer’s Choice Edition, but Obsidian later clarified that console players need the base game plus the DLCs or expansion pass to qualify. Having the upgraded edition on Game Pass gives subscribers a simpler way to access it, even if it does not fully solve the ownership issue for everyone.

Echo Generation 2 is the fresher release, but The Outer Worlds may be the bigger name. Obsidian’s RPG is still worth revisiting because of its sharp writing, strange corporate sci fi setting, companion quests, and flexible character builds. It is not as huge as some modern open world RPGs, but that can work in its favor. It is more focused and easier to finish.

For Game Pass, this is a balanced update. Echo Generation 2 gives the library something new on day one, while The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition strengthens the catalog with a complete RPG package from a first party Xbox studio.

This is not the biggest Game Pass drop of the month, but it is a good one for RPG players. Echo Generation 2 is the better pick if you want something new and card based. The Outer Worlds is the safer choice if you want a story driven RPG with familiar Obsidian flavor and all of its extra content included.
