Xbox Free Play Days adds five Warhammer games for the May 21 to 24 weekend

Xbox Free Play Days is back for the May 21 to 24 weekend, and this week’s lineup is built entirely around Warhammer. To mark the Warhammer Skulls event, Microsoft is letting Xbox Game Pass members try five Warhammer games for free across the weekend, giving players a chance to sample several different parts of the franchise before deciding whether to buy.

The free weekend includes Warhammer Space Marine Master Crafted Edition, Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters, Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor Martyr, and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. All five games require an Xbox Game Pass membership to access through Free Play Days, and they are available until late Sunday, May 24.

The lineup covers action, tactics, strategy, and RPG styles across the Warhammer universe

The strongest part of this Free Play Days lineup is variety. Space Marine Master Crafted Edition is the most direct action pick, offering a more aggressive third person experience. Battlesector and Chaos Gate Daemonhunters lean more into tactics and strategy. Inquisitor Martyr gives players an action RPG take on Warhammer 40,000, while Rogue Trader offers a deeper role playing experience with heavier decision making.

There is also a useful PC Game Pass bonus this week. Rogue Trader and Space Marine are available through Free Play Days for PC Game Pass players as well as console players. That gives PC subscribers a little more flexibility, especially if they prefer playing strategy or RPG games with mouse and keyboard.

This free weekend also arrives alongside a dedicated Warhammer Skulls Festival sale on the Microsoft Store. That means players who enjoy any of the trial games can buy them at a discount while the event is active. It is a smart setup because Warhammer games can vary a lot in style, and Free Play Days gives players a safer way to test which one fits them before spending money.

For new players, Rogue Trader may be the best choice if you want a slower RPG with more story and choice. Space Marine is the easiest pick if you want action right away. Battlesector and Chaos Gate Daemonhunters are better for players who enjoy tactical planning, squad positioning, and turn based combat. Inquisitor Martyr sits somewhere else, offering a loot driven action RPG structure inside the Warhammer 40,000 setting.

The usual Free Play Days process applies. Search for the game on the Xbox Store, choose the install option included with Game Pass or the free trial button, and then play while the weekend window is active.

This is not a permanent Game Pass addition for all five games, so the timing matters. If you are interested in Warhammer but unsure where to start, this weekend gives you a practical way to try several different entries and see which version of the grimdark universe works best for you.
