World of Warcraft: Forever Beta Extended as Blizzard Announces Early Character Name Reservations

Blizzard Entertainment has extended the World of Warcraft: Forever beta until October 23, 2026, giving participating players additional time to explore the upcoming MMORPG before its November 4 release.

The beta was originally scheduled to end on October 20, but Blizzard extended access following the testing period.

The company has also announced an early character name reservation event running from October 27 through November 3.

Eligible players will be able to reserve names for up to three characters before the game's official launch.

World of Warcraft: Forever Name Reservations Begin October 27

Blizzard has confirmed that players who purchase eligible editions of World of Warcraft: Forever can participate in the early reservation period.

The promotion covers several editions and upgrade packages, including the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, Warcraft Forever Collection, Digital Upgrade, and Collector's Edition.

However, each eligible account can reserve only three character names in total, regardless of the number of Rulesets selected.

For example, reserving two characters on a PvP Ruleset leaves only one additional reservation for Normal or Role Play Rulesets.

The restriction applies specifically to early name reservations.

Blizzard Explains Changes to Classes and Playable Races

World of Warcraft: Forever is being developed as a separate experience inspired by the foundations of classic Warcraft.

Blizzard has confirmed that it does not currently plan to introduce modern playable races from newer World of Warcraft expansions.

Instead, the development team intends to preserve the setting's established identity while introducing selected gameplay improvements.

The upcoming Skyborne race will be available to both Alliance and Horde players.

According to the developers, this decision is intended to reduce population imbalances between the two factions.

Blizzard also plans to retain familiar class designs while introducing additional mechanics to make certain abilities more engaging.

The company is separately working to address real money trading and other economy related problems.

With the beta concluding on October 23, eligible players will have several days to prepare their preferred character names before reservations open.

World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026.
