Winds of Arcana: Ruination Is Now Available Through Xbox Game Pass

Winds of Arcana: Ruination has joined Xbox Game Pass as a day one console release, giving subscribers another action platformer to explore during July 2026. The game is now playable on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and supported cloud devices.

Developed by Indian independent studio Brewed Games, Winds of Arcana: Ruination is a story focused 2.5D action platformer with Metroidvania elements. It follows Aryn as he searches for his missing companions and uncovers the history of a broken world filled with ancient secrets and dangerous enemies.

The Xbox release follows the PC version, which arrived in late 2025. It is also the first game created by Brewed Games, making its arrival on Game Pass an important step for the studio. The console edition was handled with support from 1312 Interactive.

Combat, exploration, and difficult platforming shape the adventure

The game combines exploration with customizable combat, new movement abilities, weapon upgrades, boss battles, and a fully voiced story. As you progress, you can reach previously inaccessible areas by unlocking additional skills and learning how to use them during combat and platforming sections.

Early player feedback for the PC version has been generally positive. Much of the praise has focused on responsive combat, varied weapons, rewarding exploration, and thoughtful level design. Several players have also highlighted the world, characters, and narrative as strong parts of the experience.

The game does not provide constant guidance, which may appeal to players who prefer discovering routes and secrets without frequent instructions. Its enemy and boss variety also helps prevent combat encounters from feeling too repetitive.

However, some players have raised concerns about the later platforming sections. Movement challenges can become much more demanding after abilities such as the double jump and world switching mechanic are unlocked. Certain sequences require you to change abilities in the air with little room for error.

The controls have also divided opinion. While some players describe combat as fluid, others believe movement can feel heavy during precise platforming challenges. Quick respawns reduce the time lost after mistakes, but the difficulty may still frustrate anyone who prefers more forgiving traversal.

The Game Pass release gives the game a wider audience

Winds of Arcana: Ruination enters Game Pass at a useful time for a smaller independent release. The service gives subscribers a chance to try the game without buying it separately, while the studio gains access to a much larger console audience.

The available reviews currently reflect the earlier PC edition rather than the newly released Xbox version. Performance, controls, and technical stability could differ between platforms, so the console edition will need to be assessed separately as more players spend time with it.

For fans of Metroidvania games, the combination of exploration, combat customization, voiced storytelling, and challenging movement could make Winds of Arcana: Ruination worth trying. Its demanding platforming may not suit everyone, but Game Pass makes it easy to see whether its style and difficulty match what you enjoy.
