Windrose reportedly tops April sales with 1.7 million copies in two weeks

Windrose appears to be one of April’s biggest surprise hits.

According to estimates from Alinea Analytics, the pirate adventure sold around 1.7 million copies after launching into Early Access on April 17. That was enough to make it the best selling game of the month across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, even though Windrose is only available on Steam.

That makes the result especially impressive. Windrose did not have console sales helping its total, yet it still came out ahead of several major releases and ongoing hits.

Crimson Desert came close behind with an estimated 1.6 million copies sold in April. EA Sports FC 26 followed with 1.4 million copies, while Pragmata landed in fourth place. Slay the Spire 2 rounded out the top five.

Here is the reported April ranking:

RankGameEstimated April sales
1Windrose1.7 million
2Crimson Desert1.6 million
3EA Sports FC 261.4 million
4PragmataNot specified in the report excerpt
5Slay the Spire 2Not specified in the report excerpt

The numbers should be treated as estimates, not official publisher figures. The report also does not include Nintendo Switch 2 sales, so the ranking may not show the full picture for every game. That matters for titles such as Pragmata, which is available across more platforms and recently passed 2 million total sales.

Even with that context, Windrose’s performance stands out. Selling 1.7 million copies in about two weeks is a strong start for any game, especially one still in Early Access.

The next question is whether Windrose can keep that momentum. Some Early Access games explode quickly and then slow down, while others build long term communities before their full 1.0 release.

For now, Windrose has already made a strong first impression. It managed to beat Crimson Desert for April’s estimated sales lead and put itself in the conversation as one of 2026’s early breakout PC games.
