Warhorse Studios has confirmed that its next Kingdom Come project will remain an open world RPG, easing concerns that the studio could be moving the series into a different format. The game is currently targeting a release window between April 2027 and March 2028, but Warhorse has not officially called it Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3.
The clarification came after Warhorse recently outlined a larger development pipeline that includes two major projects. One is a new Kingdom Come game, and the other is a Middle-earth open world RPG. The Middle-earth project gained more attention because of the license, but the wording around the Kingdom Come title left some fans unsure about what to expect.
Community Director Tobias Stolz-Zwilling later addressed that concern during a community livestream. He said fans can expect two open world RPGs from Warhorse, confirming that the next Kingdom Come title will follow the same broad genre direction as its predecessors.
The next Kingdom Come game is planned for 2027 to 2028, but Warhorse is keeping key details quiet
Warhorse is not ready to fully reveal the new Kingdom Come game yet. Stolz-Zwilling said the studio will share more when the right moment arrives and wants to announce the project properly when it can make a stronger impact. For now, the main confirmed details are that it is in development, it is an open world RPG, and it is planned for the next fiscal year after the current one.
The studio also confirmed that Kingdom Come remains an important part of its identity. The series was created by Daniel Vávra, and Warhorse now has almost 300 people working across its projects. The Kingdom Come universe is also expanding beyond games through comics, music, vinyl releases, and other related efforts.
| Detail | Current information |
|---|---|
| Project | New Kingdom Come game |
| Genre | Open world RPG |
| Target window | April 2027 to March 2028 |
| Official title | Not confirmed |
| Creative lead | Prokop Jirsa |
| Studio | Warhorse Studios |
| Other major project | Middle-earth open world RPG |
Prokop Jirsa, lead designer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, will lead the Kingdom Come team as creative director. That suggests the next game will continue under people already familiar with the series’ design, tone, and historical RPG structure.

The biggest question is whether this project is a full third mainline entry or a smaller spin off. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launched in February 2025 and received updates and DLC for nearly a year, so a completely new large sequel arriving in 2027 or early 2028 would be a fast turnaround. That could mean the new title is smaller in scale, or that it entered development before Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was fully finished.
Warhorse avoiding the name Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 also leaves room for a different protagonist, a different region, or a side story set in the same universe. The studio has not confirmed any of those possibilities, so it is best to treat them as open questions.
For fans, the important news is that the next Kingdom Come game is not moving away from open world RPG design. Warhorse is still building around the series’ core identity, but it is holding back the title, story details, and exact scope until a later reveal.
