V Color has introduced a new DDR5 8000 RDIMM memory lineup for Intel W890 workstation platforms, targeting high capacity professional systems built around Intel Xeon 6 processors. The new modules are rated for JEDEC DDR5 8000 operation at 1.1V and use SK hynix DDR5 memory chips, making them a high speed option for workstations that need ECC Registered DIMM support.
This is not consumer gaming memory. RDIMM modules are made for workstation and server style systems where stability, error correction, and large memory capacity matter more than flashy design. V Color is aiming these kits at workloads such as AI model development, local inference, 3D rendering, simulation, virtualization, and content production.
The headline claim is 9600 MT/s, but that is an overclocked validation
The most eye catching part of the announcement is V Color’s claim that the memory reached 9600 MT/s on Intel W890. The company says the result was achieved with an eight DIMM setup using 64GB modules on an ASUS Pro WS W890E SAGE SE motherboard. That is an impressive figure for a workstation platform, especially with eight memory slots populated.
However, it is important to separate the standard rating from the overclocked result. The new memory is rated for DDR5 8000 at 1.1V under JEDEC operation. The 9600 MT/s figure is an overclocked validation, not the standard profile most buyers should expect by default. ASUS also publicly lists the Pro WS W890E SAGE SE with support for memory speeds up to 8800 MT/s, which makes the 9600 MT/s result something enthusiasts and professionals should treat as a tuned result rather than a normal guarantee.
| Feature | V Color DDR5 8000 RDIMM lineup |
|---|---|
| Platform target | Intel W890 workstations |
| CPU support focus | Intel Xeon 6 workstation systems |
| Memory type | DDR5 ECC RDIMM |
| Standard speed | DDR5 8000 |
| Voltage | 1.1V |
| Chips | SK hynix DDR5 ICs |
| Claimed OC result | Up to 9600 MT/s |
| Module capacities | 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB |
| Supported setups | Four DIMM and eight DIMM configurations |
The lineup includes 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB modules. That gives workstation builders flexibility depending on whether they need maximum speed, maximum capacity, or a balance between both. Four DIMM configurations may appeal to buyers chasing higher frequencies, while eight DIMM setups are more useful for heavy memory capacity needs.

The modules also support Intel XMP profiles and have been validated on ASUS Pro WS W890 SAGE and ASUS Pro WS W890E SAGE SE motherboards. This matters because high speed RDIMM support depends heavily on the platform, CPU memory controller, BIOS maturity, and motherboard layout.
Pricing has not been announced yet, but this will not be cheap memory. As a comparison, V Color’s 4 x 32GB OC RDIMM kit rated for 8800 MT/s is listed at $7,199. That gives a clear idea of where this new workstation memory sits. It is aimed at professional buyers, research labs, creators, and companies that need high bandwidth memory for serious workloads, not normal desktop users.
Availability will come through V Color’s official stores, sales channels, and selected global partners, with regional rollout details still to follow. For Intel W890 workstation builders, this launch adds another high speed ECC RDIMM option at a time when AI and professional workloads are pushing memory capacity and bandwidth higher than ever.
