I have been eyeballing thermal cameras for a year or two and ran across the Topdon001 on amazon.
After comparing several models, Topdon came out on top for my needs (it has higher resolution than models 3x the price).
It is sensitive enough to show the heat signature of the studs in my wall after nightfall and a temperature drop. After a ~10° temperature drop at nightfall, it was able to discern fill levels of opaque buckets and gallon jugs that were outside.
I’ve already used it for investigating a potential exhaust leak on a riding mower and the operation of an auxiliary hydraulic filter.
I highly recommend this tool/toy for the curious and the DIYers out there.
