TerraTech Legion brings Lego style tank building to Xbox Game Pass

TerraTech Legion is now available on Xbox Game Pass, and it gives the survivorlike genre a clever mechanical twist. Instead of simply picking weapons from a menu and watching your character grow stronger, you build your own combat vehicle piece by piece.

The game comes from Payload Studios and is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. It also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so you can move between console and PC with one purchase.

TerraTech Legion starts you with a basic vehicle and drops you into maps filled with hostile AI bots. At first, your machine is weak, with limited firepower and only a few ways to stay alive. As you destroy enemies, you collect XP, crates, and modular parts that can be attached to your vehicle during upgrade moments.

That building system is the main hook. You can add weapons, wheels, armor, tracks, buzzsaws, lasers, railguns, battering rams, and other parts to create your own rolling war machine. The result can be a fast attack vehicle, a heavy tank, or a strange tower of weapons built to erase anything nearby.

The game still asks you to think carefully. If you add too much weight or build unevenly, your vehicle may become hard to steer. A powerful build is not always useful if it cannot move properly or survive long enough to reach the next objective.

There are four tech jockeys, each with different abilities and build styles. You start with Mikela, whose Ranger 1 vehicle gives you a balanced opening setup with stun boost and shockwave abilities. More characters and upgrades become available as you keep playing.

TerraTech Legion also uses roguelike progression. If your vehicle is destroyed, you start a new run, but permanent upgrades for each tech jockey can make future attempts easier. The longer you survive, the closer you get to each arena’s boss fights.

The mix of vehicle building and bullet heaven action works because every run can feel different. One attempt may turn into a laser focused build, while another may push you toward armor, ramming, or wide weapon coverage.

TerraTech Legion is not a huge release, but it has the kind of simple idea that can become hard to put down. Build, fight, collect, rebuild, and try again. For Game Pass players, it is an easy game to test, and its low price also makes it a tempting pick if you want something creative, fast, and replayable.
