Digital Extremes used TennoCon 2026 to show a broader look at Soulframe, its upcoming free to play fantasy action RPG. The presentation covered a new fall quest, a corruption themed progression path, the arrival of mounts, fishing, and a new boss already available in Soulframe Preludes.
The studio is also widening access to Preludes during TennoCon. Anyone who creates an account on the official Soulframe website and signs up by July 12 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time will receive permanent access to the current development build. After that window closes, new signups will still be possible, but access will move back to weekly raffle invites.
For players who get in, Preludes already includes several weapons, Fables, characters, and Pacts. It also lets players claim an Envoy name and start exploring the world of Alca before the full game arrives.
Warsongs introduces a darker path without locking players into good or evil choices
The main reveal was Warsongs, a new Fable quest coming this fall. It introduces the Vadagar Pact, a corruption based path built around Ichor, a substance that gives players a distinct new moveset. Its abilities include exploding boomerang throws, tendril attacks that can trap enemies, and the power to summon corrosive steeds that leave dark pools behind.
Digital Extremes said the idea was partly inspired by morality systems in games such as Knights of the Old Republic and BioShock, but the studio does not want Soulframe to use a strict good or evil structure. Instead, the Vadagar Pact is meant to explore a darker side of growth, choice, and redemption without permanently forcing players into one moral category.

The new antagonist, Tempest Bayor, was also revealed. He is a red armed Envoy aligned with the invading Ode forces and is accompanied by a raven companion. Ben Starr, known for Final Fantasy XVI and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is voicing Bayor. Digital Extremes confirmed that the character is expected to remain involved beyond the Warsongs quest, although the studio did not give further story details.
The team described Warsongs as a way to add contrast to Soulframe’s usual focus on redemption and healing. Rather than making corruption a simple villain route, Digital Extremes appears to be framing it as another path through struggle, fear, and change.

Soulframe Preludes has also received the Mendicant Reinbreaker boss fight. The encounter is tied to the invading Ode forces and involves a mounted enemy. Defeating the boss frees its indentured steed, with the possibility that players may later be able to build a bond with the creature.
That leads into one of the most requested Soulframe features: mounts. Digital Extremes said players will be able to test the first version of mounts in Preludes later this year. The system will include more than simple riding. Players will be able to pet mounts outside the Nightfold hub, and a bonding system is being developed with activities such as fetch and feeding treats.
Fishing has also been added, but the studio is presenting it as more than a separate side activity. It is tied to Grandfather Doyen and is meant to expand the worldbuilding of Alca through story and character interaction.
Digital Extremes also shared smaller gameplay details. A corrupted Vadagar creature shown earlier is described as the result of machinery damaging nature. A new sword whip weapon was partly inspired by Ivy’s weapon from Soulcalibur and will reward precise input timing with stronger combos. The studio also expressed interest in boomerang style weapons, linking them to the same broader weapon handling direction.
Soulframe is still clearly in active development, but the TennoCon showing gives the project more shape. Warsongs adds a darker thematic edge, mounts give players a long requested traversal feature, and Preludes continues to grow into a more complete early look at the game.
