Sony has announced its next State of Play presentation for September 3, 2026, and this time the event will be split into two consecutive broadcasts.
The main State of Play will begin at 6 am PT, 9 am ET, 3 pm CEST, and 10 pm JST. After that presentation ends, Sony will immediately follow it with a separate State of Play Japan edition focused on games from studios across Japan and Asia.
Sony has not confirmed the total runtime for either broadcast, but it has already revealed one major part of the main show. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will close the first presentation with an extended look at its world.
State of Play Will Feature Two Back to Back Presentations
The first broadcast will include updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios as well as third party partners.
Sony has kept most of the lineup secret, which leaves plenty of room for new game announcements and updates on previously revealed projects.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Date | September 3, 2026 |
| Start time | 6 am PT |
| Eastern time | 9 am ET |
| Central European time | 3 pm CEST |
| Japan time | 10 pm JST |
| Main presentation | PlayStation Studios and third party updates |
| Confirmed finale | Final Fantasy VII Revelation |
| Second presentation | State of Play Japan |
| Japan edition focus | Studios from Japan and Asia |
| Runtime | Not confirmed |
The Japan focused presentation will once again be hosted by Yuki Kaji and will include gameplay, announcements, and deeper looks at upcoming titles from Japanese and Asian developers. English subtitles will be available for viewers outside Japan.
The format makes this State of Play different from a normal single broadcast. Rather than combining everything into one show, Sony is giving the Japanese and wider Asian development scene its own dedicated follow up presentation.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation Is the Only Confirmed Major Game So Far
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is currently the only major title officially named for the main State of Play.
Sony says the show will conclude with an extended look at the game, which suggests viewers should expect more than a short trailer.
Exactly what will be shown has not been detailed. The presentation could include new gameplay, locations, characters, combat systems, or story elements, but none of those possibilities have been confirmed yet.
The extended segment is still significant because Final Fantasy VII Revelation is one of the biggest upcoming PlayStation releases and will receive the final spotlight of the main broadcast.
Intergalactic and Wolverine Are Possible, but Not Confirmed
Other games may also appear during the showcase, although Sony has not confirmed them.
Reports suggest Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could be included. The Naughty Dog project has had limited public exposure since its original trailer, so another appearance would provide the first substantial update in some time.

Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War: Laufey are also mentioned as possible candidates for new footage, but their involvement remains speculation.
That distinction is important because Sony has only officially confirmed the overall format and the Final Fantasy VII Revelation segment.
The September 3 State of Play arrives shortly after Gamescom, giving PlayStation another opportunity to reveal upcoming software without a long gap between major industry events.
With two consecutive broadcasts, a dedicated Japan presentation, and an extended Final Fantasy VII Revelation segment already confirmed, the event could become one of Sony’s more substantial State of Play presentations of 2026.
