I remember that the main DOS applications came with a strip of paper that labelled what all the function keys did and you just sat this on your keyboard above the function keys for easy reference. Also remember some keyboards had a plastic sleeve above the function keys that you could just slide this strip of paper into too. If you changed software you changed the strip of paper. simples!

Wear on the key board is the F2 key.

As per my experience, the F6 key toggles sections on the desktop screen or the windows explorer. For example in windows explorer, pressing F6 repeatedly will cycle through the folder section, the address bar, the menu button section, and the left navigation pane; where you can then use the cursor keys to choose the appropriate icon/item and press Enter to open it.

I also found out that f11 is full screen function key but am still trying to learn the other function keys
