SignalRGB RAM Machine Covers a Mini Gaming PC With 36 Memory Sticks

A custom mini gaming PC called the RAM Machine has turned 36 memory modules into part of its exterior design. Most of those sticks are decorative, but the working system inside includes modern gaming hardware and a fast 32GB DDR5 kit.

The project was created as a response to discussion around the limited memory configuration of Valve’s Steam Machine. Instead of simply adding more functional RAM, the builder designed an outer shell covered with memory sticks.

Sixteen of the decorative modules include RGB lighting controlled through SignalRGB. Four illuminated sticks are placed on each side of the system, while additional modules complete the unusual enclosure.

The result is a compact PC that appears to contain far more memory than it can actually use. All 36 exterior sticks are nonfunctional and do not contribute to the system’s capacity or performance.

The PC Uses an RTX 5060 and Intel Core Ultra 5 Processor

Underneath the removable memory covered shell is a mini ITX gaming system based on an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card.

The exact Core Ultra 5 model was not identified, but the system uses a compact B860 I motherboard and a 750 watt power supply. Its functional system memory consists of a 32GB Patriot DDR5 8200 kit.

Unlike many of the sticks attached to the case, the working DDR5 modules do not include RGB lighting. This creates an amusing contrast between the illuminated exterior and the more conventional hardware inside.

Storage is handled by a 2TB Patriot solid state drive rated for sequential speeds of up to 7,400 MB per second. That capacity should provide enough room for a substantial game library while maintaining fast loading and file transfer performance.

The Entire Outer Shell Can Be Removed

The memory sticks are attached to a removable outer structure rather than being installed individually around permanent case panels.

This design allows the complete shell to lift away when the internal components need maintenance. Without that feature, replacing the SSD, changing cables, or troubleshooting the system could require removing dozens of decorative modules.

A large RGB fan is installed at the bottom of the case and functions as an exhaust. Cooling can be challenging in small form factor systems because the graphics card, processor, storage, and power supply are placed close together.

The removable shell should help with physical access, but the exterior memory sticks may still affect airflow depending on how closely they surround the internal chassis. Detailed temperature and noise results were not provided.

The RTX 5060 makes the system suitable for modern gaming, particularly at 1080p and potentially at higher resolutions with suitable settings. The fast DDR5 memory and 2TB SSD also support the compact gaming focus.

However, the project is primarily a visual build rather than an attempt to create the most practical mini PC. The 36 memory modules make the computer instantly recognizable while adding considerable complexity to the case design.

The RAM Machine Is Being Offered in a Giveaway

The completed system is part of a giveaway scheduled to end on September 7, 2026. Entry requires commenting on the associated Reddit post, although regional and age restrictions apply.

The decorative sticks should not be confused with functional memory. They are mounted as part of the enclosure and are not connected to the motherboard.

Only the internal 32GB DDR5 kit contributes to usable capacity. The exterior modules serve as lighting and design elements inspired by the current discussion around memory capacity and rising RAM costs.

The RAM Machine combines a capable compact gaming PC with a deliberately excessive case. Its hardware is fairly conventional, but the removable shell and 36 decorative DIMMs turn it into a distinctive showcase build rather than another standard mini ITX system.
