For some reason the select/highlight functionality has been deactivated on my windows 10. I must have pressed (accidentally) some (unknown) combination of keys and after that I cannot select anything the usual and well-known ways (hold and drag etc). For example, I hold down the right mouse button, I drag right, the text or image is highlighted, and the moment I let go of the key the highlighting goes away and I cannot select anything. And in Word I cannot edit (eg, change the font of selected text). It is very inconvenient.
What went wrong? How can one recover the functionality?
I cannot find how to turn off the auto complete function when using the Select text feature on Windows. It gets so frustrating when I want to stop the select and windows decides that I want to finish till the end of a word or some other place that windows thinks I want to go. I know if you back up and select again windows SOMETIMES stops selection where I want to. But there are many times it keeps going to where IT wants to go! Extremely frustrating and time wasting for something that should be so simple!
And the fact that I cannot find some simple method to disable & enable this auto select feature. MS does not always know better.
