Samsung has introduced a new Odyssey gaming monitor lineup at Gamescom 2026, led by a 27 inch Odyssey G6 capable of reaching a 1,100Hz refresh rate in its fastest display mode.
The new range also includes three OLED models covering 32 inch, 42 inch and 49 inch sizes. Samsung is targeting different parts of the enthusiast gaming market, from competitive esports players who prioritize refresh rate to people who want large OLED displays for immersive games.
The Odyssey G6 is the most unusual model in the lineup because it uses a dual mode configuration. At QHD resolution, the monitor can operate at up to 600Hz. Switching to a lower HD resolution raises the maximum refresh rate to 1,100Hz.

Odyssey G6 targets competitive gaming
Samsung's Odyssey G6 uses a fast IPS panel with a rated 1ms response time. Its headline 1,100Hz mode is aimed primarily at competitive players who value motion clarity and extremely low latency over image resolution.
The tradeoff is that the monitor cannot reach 1,100Hz at QHD. You have to reduce the resolution to HD to unlock its fastest mode.
At QHD, the display still reaches 600Hz, which remains well above the refresh rates offered by most mainstream gaming monitors.
Samsung says the Odyssey G6 is expected to become available in the second half of 2026.
OLED G8 offers three resolution and refresh rate modes
The Odyssey OLED G8 takes a different approach. It is a 32 inch 4K OLED monitor with three operating modes designed to let you choose between resolution and refresh rate.
At full 4K resolution, it can reach 360Hz. Switching to QHD increases the maximum refresh rate to 520Hz, while FHD raises it again to 680Hz.
That gives the G8 more flexibility for players who use the same monitor for visually demanding games and competitive titles.
The larger Odyssey OLED G7 features a 42 inch 4K panel with a 1000R curve and a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz. Its design is more focused on screen size and immersion than extreme refresh rates.
Odyssey OLED G9 becomes the 49 inch flagship
At the top of the new lineup is the Odyssey OLED G9.
The 49 inch monitor uses a 5120 × 1440 Dual QHD resolution, effectively providing the horizontal workspace of two QHD displays placed side by side. It supports a refresh rate of up to 360Hz.
Samsung is also using its fifth generation QD OLED panel technology with Penta Tandem construction in the G9. The company says the design improves panel lifespan, reduces color fringing and enables peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits.
The large ultrawide format should make the G9 particularly suited to racing games, simulators and other titles where a wider field of view can be useful.
Samsung has not provided complete pricing information for the new Odyssey range yet. With refresh rates now moving beyond 1,000Hz and OLED models reaching several hundred hertz at high resolutions, the 2027 Odyssey lineup shows how quickly the premium gaming monitor market is moving toward increasingly specialized display modes.
