The world is changing and we are becoming more mobile each day. It's only natural that our devices are also evolving in the same direction as we are. We create and use more mobile devices than ever, starting from laptops to hybrids and going from tablets to smartphones. The modern human jumps from one device to another in a split second. But even if most of them have touch screens, typing on them is not becoming easier. Sure, they're OK if you only write SMS messages or enter some keywords in Google. But if you need to write longer texts, then you'll probably want a keyboard for that. It's also quite probable that you will prefer a keyboard that works with more than only one device, instead of a separate keyboard for each one of your devices. The Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is a keyboard that's portable, wireless and stylish. We used it for a while and now we can tell you all sorts of details about it. If you're curious about things like how easy the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is to type on, how well it works or whether it's worth buying, then you should read this review.

Design & Hardware specifications

The Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is designed to work with Windows, Android and iOS devices and its main motto is "Easy-Switch". That means that you can pair this keyboard with more than one device (with 3, actually) and then switch between them with a simple press of a button. So if you have 2 or 3 Bluetooth-enabled devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones etc.) in your living room, connecting the keyboard to any of them should be quite fast. The pairing of the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 with a Bluetooth capable device is done via a hardware button found on the back of the keyboard.

The Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 looks premium and feels premium. Its keys are illuminated and sit on a gray, brushed aluminum surface. The top edge of the keyboard is the only part that's glossy and the only part that will gather fingerprints easily.

With its only 0.4 inches in height, 11.3 inches in width and 5.1 inches in depth, the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 has a very slim design. It's also worth mentioning that it has no adjustable feet. This slim design and rather small dimensions make the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 a good choice if you want a keyboard that you can carry with you.

The most important thing about a keyboard are its keys, so let's take a closer look at them. The keys have a low-profile, they're silent and they're also slightly curved inside, following the natural form of our fingertips. They are well spaced and typing on them should be comfortable. Sure, if you jump from a full-sized desktop keyboard straight to the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810, you might feel that its layout is a bit crowded, but the truth is that, for a portable keyboard, this one is very generous. And with a bit of adjustment from your part (say… a few days), the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 could even be a replacement for your desktop keyboard - a really stylish replacement.

The illumination also helps this keyboard stand out from the crowd and will surely draw the attention of people around you. What's special at the illuminated keys is that this keyboard also includes a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor. The proximity sensor activates the keyboard and triggers the keys' backlight when your hands approach it, while the ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the level of backlighting for the keys. Not only that these sensors make it easier to use your keyboard in any conditions, but they also help it preserve energy by turning lights off when you don't use it.

Also in terms of design and usage, we must underline the fact that, even if the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 was designed with Windows 8 in mind (that's why it has a Windows key), it was also created to work flawlessly with other mobile devices, like tablets and smartphones. An obvious indication of this is the fact that the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 includes a key for Home which, when used with an Android tablet or smartphone, takes you straight to the home screen.

The Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 has a very good built-in Bluetooth chip that allows it to connect to any Bluetooth capable PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone. Logitech says that this keyboard will work out-of-the-box with every major operating system: Windows 7, Windows 8.2, Windows 10 or Windows RT, iOS 4.0 or later and Android 3.0 or later.

In terms of battery life, the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 promises to last you anywhere from 10 days to one whole year. Of course, that depends on how much you use your keyboard. If you write a lot and the illumination is on and maxed out, you'll probably have to recharge the keyboard as often as every 10 days or so. Speaking of which, the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is powered by a built-in battery which is recharged via a microUSB port found on the top right edge of the keyboard.

If you want to get more battery life out of your keyboard, it's also recommended that you turn it off when you aren't using it. Like overnight. Fortunately, Logitech included an On/Off button which you can find on the right edge of the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810.

Using the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810

The Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is a great and very stylish keyboard with which we fell in love at first sight. We probably shouldn't have begun this section with such a statement, but we felt the need to do it. 🙂

Using the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 to write on it is an experience that we never had before, on any other portable, wireless keyboard. Typing is easy and feels natural, even when you do it for long periods of time like we do. And even if you do it in dim light, in the evening (don't tell anyone, but we do that too), thanks to the keys backlights. By the way, we wrote this entire review using only the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810.

The concave keys feel great when you touch them and the way they're built distributes the force on their entire surfaces. If you are a fast typist, it often happens that you press keys on their edges rather than exactly on their center areas. Logitech took care of this and your keystrokes are distributed evenly, making typing a very good experience.

One of the strong points of the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is its ability to store multiple Bluetooth profiles. Three in fact. We loved how easy it was to connect this keyboard to our devices and how fast and fluid was switching between them afterward.

After pairing the keyboard with your devices, all it takes to switch between them is a press on one of the three function buttons from the top edge of the keyboard. In a split second, you'll be jumping from your laptop to your tablet, to your smartphone and back, if that's what you want.
