This device lacks user guide information. The pre-loaded software, while not extensive, needs explanation. for example, the effects window presents a number of face additions or distortions, but when I pick one, nothing happens. So, how does this feature work? I spent time with MS and they admitted there is no user manual, only tech sheet and other marginal information. Even the setup sheet is almost a cheat. Considering this is a $100 product, I find MS’ lack of user documentation approach mystifying or simply inexplicable. The Logitech webcam devices are fully documented. Why not MS webcam devices? Have they gotten so cheap as to not care?

I can’t seem to make it output anything other than low fps 640×480 in my ubuntu 14.04
did you really record your output to see what size it was?
