Rayman Legends Retold Adds Fully Voiced Cinematics, Dragon Rides and New Challenge Modes

Ubisoft has shown more of Rayman Legends Retold in a new overview trailer, detailing the remake's expanded story, fully voiced cinematics, new areas and additional gameplay modes ahead of its December 3 release.

The game reworks the 2013 platformer with more fully 3D sections while keeping the core platforming structure intact. Ubisoft is also adding new traversal mechanics, challenge content and cosmetic rewards that were not part of the original release.

The project recently went gold, but the development team still chose to delay the launch to allow more time for polish.

Rayman Legends Retold expands the original story

One of the biggest changes is a more developed narrative.

The remake includes fully voiced cinematic sequences, with multiple voice options available. Ubisoft is presenting the story with higher stakes than the original game, giving the campaign a more direct narrative structure.

The trailer also introduces the Land of the Livid Dead, a new realm that appears to play an important role in the story and may be connected to the game's main villain.

Dragon Rides add more 3D traversal

Dragon Rides are one of the new gameplay additions.

These sections allow players to travel between locations while riding a dragon and avoiding obstacles along the way.

The mechanic gives the remake more fully 3D movement than the original Rayman Legends, which was primarily built around side scrolling platforming.

Ubisoft appears to be using these sequences to connect different locations while also adding another type of movement challenge.

Fairy Radiance changes how some obstacles are handled

The Land of the Livid Dead introduces the new Fairy Radiance ability.

Players can use it to navigate environmental hazards and open paths through sections that would otherwise be blocked.

One example shown involves punching through thorn covered areas to clear a route forward.

The ability appears designed to add another layer to traversal rather than simply acting as a combat upgrade.

It also gives the remake room to redesign existing platforming ideas around new mechanics.

Kung Foot Evo gets more arenas and improvements

Kung Foot returns in an expanded form called Kung Foot Evo.

The remake includes new arenas along with broader improvements to the mode.

The original Kung Foot was a competitive football inspired minigame built around Rayman's movement and attacks, and the updated version appears intended to provide more variety for local competitive play.

Ubisoft has not detailed every rule change yet, but the addition of new arenas suggests the mode will be more substantial than a simple visual update.

Cave of Trials adds recurring challenges

The Cave of Trials is another major addition.

It includes daily, weekly and monthly challenges designed to give players recurring objectives after completing regular campaign content.

Players can also attempt Old Deep Nightmare Trials, which are positioned as more demanding platforming tests.

Leaderboards are supported, allowing players to compete for higher placements.

Special anniversary rewards can also be earned through these activities.

Dozens of new outfits are included

Rayman Legends Retold also adds a larger collection of cosmetic options.

Rayman and other playable characters can wear dozens of new outfits.

These costumes do not appear to change gameplay, but they provide another progression and customization element for players working through challenges and additional modes.

Combined with leaderboard rewards and recurring trials, the remake is adding more reasons to continue playing beyond the main campaign.

Release was delayed despite development being complete

Rayman Legends Retold is scheduled to launch on December 3, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.

The game had already gone gold before the latest delay, meaning the core release build had reached completion.

However, the development team decided to postpone launch to spend additional time on polish.

The new overview makes clear that Retold is intended to go beyond a straightforward visual remake. Fully voiced cinematics, Dragon Rides, the Land of the Livid Dead, Fairy Radiance, expanded Kung Foot and recurring challenge modes all give the 2013 platformer additional systems and content for its return.
