Once Human will launch on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox app for Windows PC on August 25, 2026.
The free to play survival game originally arrived on PC before expanding to mobile devices in 2025. Its console release follows a period of testing and gives Xbox players access to the game more than two years after its first launch.
Full crossplay and cross progression will be available across supported platforms. This means you can play with friends on other systems and continue using the same character and progress after moving between Xbox, PC, and mobile.
Existing players will also be able to link their accounts rather than starting again. The exact account linking process has not yet been detailed, but the feature should allow longtime PC and mobile players to carry their progress into the console version.
Once Human will not use Xbox Play Anywhere. Since the game is free to play, you can download it separately on Xbox and Windows without buying it twice.
The console version will support keyboard and mouse controls
Xbox and PlayStation players will be able to use a controller or connect a keyboard and mouse. This gives console players another control option, particularly for inventory management, building, and aiming.
The game takes place in a supernatural world where a substance called Stardust has altered people, animals, and the environment. Players take the role of a Meta Human capable of surviving conditions that would be dangerous to ordinary people.
Exploration is mixed with resource gathering, crafting, base construction, and combat. Players can establish a territory, improve its defences, and collect equipment while facing hostile creatures and other dangers.

Once Human includes both cooperative and competitive multiplayer systems. Player against environment activities focus on exploration, monsters, gathering, and survival, while player against player content is optional rather than forced on everyone.
This allows players to focus on building and cooperative missions without constantly worrying about attacks from other people. Those who want a more competitive experience can choose activities and scenarios that include player combat.
Console content will initially be behind PC and mobile versions
The console edition will not launch with every update currently available on PC and mobile.
The development team plans to bring the console version closer to the other platforms over time. Once the content has caught up, updates are expected to remain more consistent across each edition.

This slower rollout may make the early console experience easier to understand. Once Human has received two years of content, systems, balance changes, and seasonal updates since its original release. Introducing everything at once could make the game difficult for new players to follow.
The smaller initial content selection may also give the developers more time to test console performance and controls before adding later features.
It is not yet clear how quickly the console version will catch up or which scenarios and updates will be available on launch day.
Achievement support remains unclear
The current Xbox listing does not clearly mention achievements. This has created some uncertainty because the PC release has not added Steam achievements despite repeated requests from players.
Xbox console releases normally include achievements, so their absence from the early listing may simply be an omission. The console launch could also provide an opportunity to add similar support to the PC versions, although nothing has been confirmed.
Once Human will remain free to play, but optional paid packs will be available. These packs will include premium items for players who want additional content. The developers have not indicated that they are required to progress through the main game.
Once Human will arrive on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox PC app on August 25, 2026. Its crossplay, cross progression, account linking, and optional player against player systems should make it easier for new and returning players to enter its shared survival world.
