Nvidia GeForce 610.88 Driver Adds Halo: Campaign Evolved and Gears E Day Beta Support

Nvidia has released the GeForce Game Ready 610.88 WHQL driver with support for Halo: Campaign Evolved, the upcoming Gears of War: E Day multiplayer beta and the dark fantasy extraction game Mistfall Hunter.

The update is recommended for anyone playing Halo: Campaign Evolved on a GeForce graphics card, particularly those using the RTX 50 series. It includes a fix for crashes that could occur with recent R610 drivers, along with several corrections for other games and applications.

Gears of War: E Day will begin its multiplayer beta on August 6. Installing the new driver before the event should provide the intended compatibility and stability improvements.

The driver is available through the Nvidia app. A standalone installer is also available for people who prefer to download and install updates manually.

Halo: Campaign Evolved receives an important RTX 50 series fix

Halo: Campaign Evolved is one of the main reasons to install the 610.88 driver. Nvidia has resolved crashes affecting RTX 50 series graphics cards when the game was used with earlier R610 drivers.

The fix was previously included in a separate hotfix release. It is now part of the fully certified Game Ready package, meaning players no longer need to install the temporary update separately.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is an Unreal Engine remake of the original campaign and includes substantial changes beyond its visual presentation. The updated technology may place different demands on graphics cards compared with the earlier version, making stable driver support important from launch.

Nvidia has not shared specific performance gains for individual GeForce cards. The main focus appears to be compatibility and crash prevention rather than a claimed increase in frame rates.

Gears of War: E Day beta support arrives before the August test

The new driver also prepares GeForce systems for the Gears of War: E Day multiplayer beta.

The Coalition will open the test on August 6, allowing players to experience part of the Unreal Engine 5 game before its complete release. Nvidia recommends using version 610.88 for the event.

Game Ready support usually includes a tested driver profile and corrections identified during development. It does not guarantee that every performance or stability issue has been removed, especially during a beta where the game itself is still being tested.

Mistfall Hunter is the third newly supported title. The extraction action role playing game combines dark fantasy combat with multiplayer systems, and the driver provides the required launch support for GeForce hardware.

Nvidia fixes problems in several games and applications

The 610.88 release includes multiple corrections beyond its new game profiles.

Path of Exile 2 could experience long pauses after extended play sessions while using the DirectX 12 renderer. Nvidia says this intermittent problem has been fixed.

Silent Hill F receives general stability improvements, although the company has not provided a detailed explanation of the specific crashes or errors addressed.

Strange Brigade and Zombie Army 4: Dead War could crash when closing if the Nvidia App in game overlay was enabled. The new driver resolves that issue.

Nvidia has also improved frame pacing in certain DirectX 11 games when Smooth Motion and G Sync are enabled together. This change may help reduce uneven presentation in affected titles.

RTX Dynamic Vibrance was also being applied incorrectly to Wallpaper Engine. Nvidia has corrected that behaviour.

Another fix targets Paint.NET, which could crash during startup when Nvidia Surround was active.

One power management issue remains unresolved

Nvidia lists one known issue in the 610.88 release.

The Prefer Maximum Performance option may not work correctly in some situations. This setting is intended to keep a graphics card at a higher performance state rather than allowing it to reduce power usage as aggressively.

Players who rely on the option may find that a game or application does not maintain the expected clock behaviour. Nvidia has not provided a date for a fix.

The 610.88 driver is most useful for Halo: Campaign Evolved players, participants in the Gears of War: E Day beta and anyone affected by the listed game or application problems. The single remaining power management issue is worth noting, but the release otherwise delivers a focused collection of compatibility and stability improvements.
