Noctua finally launches all black NF A12x25 G2 Chromax fan

Noctua has launched the NF A12x25 G2 Chromax.black, giving PC builders an all black version of one of the company’s best cooling fans.

The original NF A12x25 became one of Noctua’s most respected fans because of its strong balance of airflow, static pressure, and low noise. Noctua later released the second generation NF A12x25 G2, but it was only available in the company’s familiar brown and beige color scheme.

That has now changed.

The new Chromax.black version keeps the same design and performance as the standard NF A12x25 G2, but swaps the classic Noctua colors for an all black finish. That makes it much easier to use in modern black themed PC builds, especially where builders care about a clean and consistent look.

The fan uses Noctua’s progressive bend impeller design and a centrifugal turbulator hub. The goal is to improve airflow while reducing turbulence and tonal noise. Noctua says the G2 design can improve radiator thermals by up to 3.5 degrees Celsius at similar noise levels compared with the first generation model.

The fan also keeps the tight 0.5mm tip clearance and Sterrox LCP blades used by the regular NF A12x25 G2. That narrow gap helps reduce air leakage around the blade tips, improving static pressure efficiency. This is why Noctua positions the fan not only for case airflow, but also for radiators and heatsinks.

For many builders, the all black design is the main selling point. Noctua’s brown and beige fans have become iconic, but they do not match every build. The Chromax line exists because many users want Noctua performance without the classic color compromise.

The NF A12x25 G2 Chromax.black costs $34.90, while the dual fan Sx2 PP pack costs $64.90. That puts it in premium fan territory, but Noctua fans are usually bought for long term use, quiet operation, and reliable performance rather than low pricing.

This is not a new fan mechanically, and that is fine. The important part is that Noctua’s strongest 120mm design is now available in a color that fits more builds. For anyone who wanted the NF A12x25 G2 but avoided it because of the brown and beige look, the Chromax.black version is the one to get.
