Nintendo UK Adds a Star Fox Mousepad Reward, but a Full Switch 2 Accessory Collection Is Still Missing

Nintendo UK has added a new Star Fox themed mousepad to its rewards store, giving fans a small way to celebrate the series on Nintendo Switch 2. The accessory features Fox McCloud, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy using artwork from the latest Star Fox release, but it is currently the only official themed accessory Nintendo has announced.

The mousepad can be claimed through the Nintendo UK store for 500 Platinum Points. These points are earned by completing Nintendo Switch Online challenges, using Nintendo mobile apps, and taking part in other account activities.

For Star Fox fans, it is a welcome addition. However, the reward also highlights how little official merchandise and hardware support the series has received compared with other Nintendo franchises.

The Star Fox Mousepad Is a Platinum Point Reward

The mousepad measures 23cm by 22cm and uses a synthetic rubber surface. Nintendo says it can be used with a mouse or with Joy-Con 2 controllers, making it a simple desk accessory for Switch 2 players.

The design uses the Star Fox team as they appear in the newest game. Fox McCloud takes the lead, with Falco, Peppy, and Slippy appearing alongside him in the artwork.

The reward does not cost money directly, though players still need enough Platinum Points and may need to pay for shipping depending on the order.

Star Fox Still Has No Major Switch 2 Accessory Line

Nintendo often uses major game releases as an opportunity to launch themed accessories. Splatoon Raiders already has special Joy-Con designs available, while Super Mario, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Pokémon, and Zelda have all received official cases, controllers, carrying pouches, and other hardware items.

Star Fox has not received the same treatment so far.

There are no official Star Fox Switch 2 cases, themed controllers, docks, camera covers, or Joy-Con accessories currently available. That is surprising because the series has a clear visual identity that would work well with gaming hardware.

An Arwing themed Switch 2 camera, red Star Fox logo thumb grips, a flight jacket styled carrying case, or a controller inspired by Fox McCloud’s cockpit could all appeal to fans.

Instead, the mousepad is currently the only major official accessory connected to the latest game.

Nintendo Rewards Continue to Offer Small Collectibles

Nintendo’s Platinum Point system has become a way for the company to offer posters, keychains, notebook sets, phone wallpapers, pins, and small collectibles without selling them through regular retail stores.

The Star Fox mousepad fits that approach. It is not a large product launch, but it gives fans something physical to collect while using points that might otherwise go unused.

For players who recently picked up the newest Star Fox game, the reward may be worth claiming before it disappears from the Nintendo store. Rewards can rotate out without much warning, and older items are not always restocked.

The mousepad is a nice start for Star Fox fans, but it also makes the lack of a wider Switch 2 accessory range more noticeable. Nintendo has the artwork, the characters, and the audience for it. Now the series needs a proper case, controller, or console accessory line to match.
