Minisforum has introduced the MS-03 Local AI Edge Workstation, a compact desktop built around Intel’s Core Ultra 300 “Panther Lake” platform. The system is aimed at buyers who want the efficiency and AI capability of Intel’s latest mobile silicon, but in a desktop style machine with more expansion than a typical mini PC.
The MS-03 uses Intel’s Core Ultra 9 386H processor. This chip includes 4 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, and 4 low power efficiency cores, with a peak boost clock of 4.9GHz. Its rated TDP is 25W, while maximum turbo power can reach 80W. That gives Minisforum room to position the machine as a small workstation rather than a basic office desktop.
This is not a standard mini PC with limited upgrade options. Minisforum is giving the MS-03 socketed memory, multiple storage options, high speed networking, Wi-Fi 7, and a full length PCIe slot that can be used for more than just storage. That makes it more flexible than many compact systems in its class.
The MS-03 offers PCIe 5.0 expansion, 128GB RAM support, and three M.2 slots
The standout feature is the PCI Express 5.0 x16 slot, which runs at x8 electrically. Minisforum says the slot can be used for a discrete GPU, capture card, high speed networking card, or other expansion hardware. That flexibility is unusual for a compact machine based on a mobile class processor.
The system also includes three M.2 sockets, with one of them convertible into a U.2 drive bay through an included adapter. That gives the MS-03 strong storage potential for a small workstation, especially for workloads that need fast local drives or large project storage.
| Feature | Minisforum MS-03 |
|---|---|
| Processor | Intel Core Ultra 9 386H |
| CPU layout | 4 P cores, 8 E cores, 4 LP E cores |
| Boost clock | Up to 4.9GHz |
| Rated TDP | 25W |
| Maximum turbo power | 80W |
| Memory | DDR5 SODIMM, up to 128GB |
| Memory speed | Up to 7200 MT/s with CSODIMM support |
| Expansion | PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, x8 electrical |
| Storage | Three M.2 sockets, one convertible to U.2 |
| Networking | Dual 10 Gigabit SFP+ and Wi-Fi 7 |
| Price | Not announced yet |
Memory support is another important detail. The MS-03 uses DDR5 SODIMM slots and supports speeds up to 7200 MT/s with CSODIMM support. Capacity is listed at up to 128GB, which makes the machine more useful for local AI tasks, virtualization, development work, media workflows, and heavier multitasking.
Networking also looks strong. The MS-03 includes dual 10 Gigabit SFP+ connectors, even before using the PCIe slot for any additional network hardware. Wi-Fi 7 is included as well, giving the system both wired and wireless options for fast local and network based work.
The Core Ultra 9 386H does not appear to include the faster integrated graphics found in Intel’s Core Ultra X9 laptop chips, but the MS-03 partly solves that with the PCIe expansion slot. If the chassis, power delivery, and cooling support the right card, buyers could add a discrete GPU or other accelerator depending on their workload.
Minisforum is positioning the system as a local AI edge workstation, which fits the current market shift toward compact machines that can handle AI, development, and workstation tasks without taking up much desk space. The company has already released several small workstation designs, including Intel powered models and AMD based systems such as the S1 Max with Ryzen AI Max+ hardware.

The missing details are price and release timing. Minisforum has announced the MS-03, but it has not confirmed exactly when it will ship or how much it will cost. The company is offering a $50 preorder discount for people who register with an email address, but the final value will depend heavily on configuration pricing.
The MS-03 could be one of Minisforum’s more interesting compact systems if the price is reasonable. It combines Panther Lake efficiency, large memory support, fast networking, multiple storage slots, and real PCIe expansion in a small workstation body. For users who want a mini PC that can grow beyond basic desktop duties, this looks like a much more capable option than the usual sealed compact box.
