Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Open Beta Arrives on PC and PS5 in July

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will hold an open beta test on PC and PlayStation 5 from July 24 to July 26, giving players their first widely available chance to try Arc System Works’ upcoming Marvel fighting game before launch.

The beta is a notable step for PC players because the game’s earlier playtest was only available on PlayStation 5. Arc System Works has now confirmed that the new test will include PC access, along with additional stages, more modes, and Blade as a playable character.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is scheduled to launch on August 6, 2026. The open beta should give players a short opportunity to learn its combat system, test the online experience, and try several of the game’s Marvel teams before the full release.

The Open Beta Adds Blade and More Playable Content

The July playtest will offer more than the earlier closed session. Arc System Works has confirmed new stages and modes, though the full beta feature list has not yet been announced.

Blade is the biggest confirmed roster addition. The vampire hunter joins the Samurai Outriders, a team that also includes Ghost Rider, Deadpool, and Loki.

The beta will likely be important for players who are new to Arc System Works games. The studio is known for fast, visually detailed fighting games with deep mechanics, and Marvel Tōkon appears to bring that style to a large team based Marvel roster.

Five Marvel Teams Form the Launch Roster

The game’s launch roster includes 20 heroes and villains split into five teams. Each group has its own visual identity and character mix, from familiar Avengers to darker villain focused lineups.

TeamCharacters
Unbreakable X-MenStorm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger
Amazing GuardiansSpider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker
Fighting AvengersCaptain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Hulk
Knights of DoomDoctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage
Samurai OutridersGhost Rider, Blade, Deadpool, Loki

The Samurai Outriders are the final confirmed launch team. Their inclusion gives the roster a more unusual mix of supernatural characters, antiheroes, and unpredictable fighters.

Arc System Works has also given some characters fresh visual interpretations. Iron Man’s design, for example, takes inspiration from mecha anime, giving the character a look that fits the developer’s established art style.

PC Release Remains Important for the Game

Marvel Tōkon is arriving on PC despite broader uncertainty around Sony’s PC release strategy. The company has recently placed more focus on selective launches, but this game is still planned to release on desktop alongside PlayStation 5.

That approach gives the game a better chance to build an active online community from the beginning. Fighting games depend heavily on player numbers, matchmaking quality, and long term competition. Launching on PC and console together can help avoid splitting the audience too early.

The open beta will be the first major test of that plan. Players interested in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls should have a clearer idea of its gameplay, modes, and online performance before the full release arrives in August.
