Hideo Kojima says his upcoming Xbox horror game OD is designed to go beyond the fear level reached by previous games, while Bethesda’s Todd Howard has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI remains the studio’s biggest project. Howard also said Arkane Studios is doing very strong work on Marvel’s Blade, although none of these games has a confirmed release date.
The updates came during discussion around Xbox’s 25th anniversary and its wider plans for games, film, and television. While details remain limited, the comments offer a clearer look at three major projects that many players have been waiting to see.
OD Could Include a System for Players Who Find the Horror Too Intense
Kojima has described OD as an attempt to create a type of horror experience that has not been seen before. He said the concept began while he was working on Death Stranding and that many companies did not understand how the proposed game would work.
The game is expected to be a single player experience built around fear and tension. Kojima said he wants it to be as frightening as possible, but also recognizes that some players may stop playing if the experience becomes too intense.
To deal with that, he has designed a system intended to help frightened players continue without revealing exactly how it will work. That suggests OD may approach horror differently from games that simply rely on combat difficulty or jump scares.
| Game | Latest Update | Release Date |
|---|---|---|
| OD | Designed to push horror further with a new support system | Not announced |
| The Elder Scrolls VI | Bethesda’s main project with most of the team working on it | Not announced |
| Marvel’s Blade | Arkane is said to be making strong progress | Not announced |
The Elder Scrolls VI Is Bethesda’s Main Focus
Todd Howard said The Elder Scrolls VI is currently Bethesda Game Studios’ biggest project. He acknowledged the pressure around the game, especially because fans have waited since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched in 2011.
The studio knows it needs to meet high expectations. Skyrim remains one of the most successful and influential role playing games ever made, which means its follow up has a difficult task ahead.

Howard did not reveal a release window, gameplay details, platforms, or setting. However, confirming that most of the studio is focused on the project is an important update after years of limited official news.
The Elder Scrolls VI is still expected to be some distance from release. Bethesda has not shown gameplay, and the game will likely need significant development time before it is ready for a full reveal.
Arkane’s Marvel’s Blade Is Reportedly Progressing Well
Howard also spoke briefly about Marvel’s Blade, the action game in development at Arkane Studios. He said he had recently seen the project and praised the team’s work.
That is encouraging because Blade is one of the more mysterious Xbox projects. Arkane is known for games that combine action, immersive environments, and player freedom, so the studio’s take on Marvel’s vampire hunter could be very different from a standard superhero game.
However, Howard did not say when the game will be shown again or when it might release. Arkane has also faced uncertainty due to wider concerns around Xbox studio restructuring, so praise for the project does not confirm anything about the studio’s future.
For now, all three games remain distant but promising. OD could offer a fresh approach to horror, The Elder Scrolls VI is firmly Bethesda’s top priority, and Marvel’s Blade appears to be moving forward under Arkane’s care.
