Intel Wildcat Lake laptop arrives under $600 with more memory and storage than MacBook Neo

Intel’s first Wildcat Lake laptop has started appearing at retail, giving the company an early answer to Apple’s low cost MacBook Neo. The Honor X14 2026 is now listed in China with Intel’s Core 5 320 processor and a price that drops below $600 through JD.com.

The timing is important because Apple’s MacBook Neo has put pressure on the mainstream laptop market. Apple offers a premium looking MacBook experience starting at $599, but Intel and PC makers now appear ready to respond with cheaper Windows laptops that offer stronger base specifications.

The Honor X14 is a 14 inch thin and light laptop using Intel’s Core Series 3 “Wildcat Lake” platform. The Core 5 320 has 6 cores, a boost clock of up to 4.6GHz, 6MB of cache, a 35W TDP, and integrated graphics with 2 Xe3 cores.

The Honor X14 has a clear advantage in memory and storage. It includes 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 512GB SSD, while the base MacBook Neo starts with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. The Honor laptop also has a larger 60Wh battery compared with the Neo’s 36.5Wh battery.

Apple still has advantages in display quality and portability. The MacBook Neo has a sharper Retina display with higher brightness, and it is thinner and lighter than the Honor X14. The Honor model measures 16.9mm thick and weighs 1.39kg, while the MacBook Neo is 12.7mm thick and weighs 1.23kg.

The port selection may favor Honor for everyday use. The X14 includes one USB C port, two USB A ports, HDMI, an audio jack, and power delivery with DisplayPort support through USB C. That makes it more flexible for people who still use standard accessories and external displays.

Wildcat Lake is designed for mainstream AI ready Windows laptops. Intel has positioned Core Series 3 as a more affordable platform with better power efficiency, support for modern AI workloads, and improved everyday performance compared with older Core chips.

The big question is real world performance. The Honor X14 looks strong on paper, but independent reviews will need to test battery life, thermals, build quality, display quality, and how well the Core 5 320 performs in normal use.

For now, Intel has a promising start. A sub $600 Windows laptop with 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, a modern Core Series 3 chip, and a larger battery gives PC makers a stronger answer to Apple’s MacBook Neo than older budget laptops could offer.
