This is awful. I can no longer copy and paste to an email. I have to save to my hard drive that I can’t access within my work secure platform. This is complicated and time consuming. I give it an ‘F’

Microsoft is king of restricting access to executables. Just try to find the executable for this program. It’s in Program Files/windowsapps. You need to get access in there. Then when you click on the executable it won’t launch without a slew of vsc dills. This kind of thing, and forcing edge always down your throat on start-up should tell you everything you need to know about using windows. Your data isn’t any safer with Bill than with those cowboys at facebook

  • Paul says:

IMHO, Useless feature. Where does the snip go to? I can’t edit/save after.

  • Ross Smith says:

Overall love the new tool, more modification options when I have the app open that are great.
Wish there was a quick key to do a app snip. Often I like to indicate on a snip using the highlighter or pen and in order to do this I have to open app then snip. Wish I could do a windows key shift S to snip then be in the app to be able to modify.

I also want to know?????? I open action centre far bottom right but if i click on it it just removes it!

  • Todd says:

It really needs the ability to allow typed notations on screen captures.

  • Mike Silver says:

This tool sucks. Lipstick on a pig. They should have used Snagit as a guide to how to make a good snipping/editing tool. For example I can’t draw simple boxes around an area to highlight, a key in documentation. Free form lines look terrible. Big failure on MS.

  • Sam says:

Can I use the keyboard to type into this application? Thank you for replies/advice, Sam

  • Jon says:

I did like this but they seem to have changed the behaviour now and whereas I could stack screenshots before, now if I take a second screenshot it overwrites the first. They probably did this to counter the annoying behaviour where you couldn’t group close all the snip windows without having to give focus to each one. To summarise, I prefer a few aspects but on the whole it is annoying.

  • Jeff says:

Nice summary, thanks. Lame, lame, lame update though. M$ even removed Help! Trusty old F1 does nothing. Outrageous IMHO.

It’s a very limited attempt at an update. We pay tons of $ to M$, and they release this with barely any more functionality than the old Snipping Tool. And with important features removed, e.g. it’s missing the ‘Capture Window’ functionality.

Where is text annotation? Simple shape annotation (rectangle, circle)? Printing? Straightforward things like that would make all the difference, and are not difficult to do.

    Underwhelmed is putting it mildly.

  • Me says:

This update is awful; MS made it more complicated. Where is the “Copy” function in the new Snip & Search, so I can insert the snipped item into an email, for example??

  • Larry says:

This is still too much work. Why can’t there be an option to print the snip to the printer immediately without any intervening steps? I don’t need to save the snip, I don’t need to edit the snip. I just want to print the snip and move on!

Good feedback. I will report it to Microsoft. Maybe they will take it into consideration, for future updates to the app.

  • Andrew Patterson says:

Doesn’t seem to be any better integrated or easy to use to me, and they seemed to have removed the Window clip, which is what I use the most frequently. I’ve never figured out a use for the freeform snip, but for some reason that remains.

  • Tate says:

Snip & Sketch is okay, but where is the ability to just print the snip like you could with the sniping tool?

  • Norman McAllister says:

The new Snip and Sketch should have a Print facility for easily printing out the finished snip

  • Bar Camp says:

Regression cf Snipping Tool – no direct printing option!
    No textbox feature.
