HITMAN: World of Assassination has regained its Steam Deck Verified badge after being downgraded to Playable several months ago.
The game received the green Verified check again on October 8, confirming that its default settings and controls now meet Valve's requirements for a fully supported Steam Deck experience.
The restored rating means players should be able to launch the game and play without needing to make major adjustments first.
Steam Deck Verified Status Returns
HITMAN: World of Assassination had previously been recognized as a strong fit for Steam Deck, making the downgrade to Playable somewhat surprising.
The latest update reverses that change.
According to the new rating, the game's default controller configuration works correctly, controller button icons are displayed properly, and in game text is considered readable on the handheld's screen.
The default graphical setup is also considered suitable for the device.
| Steam Deck requirement | Current status |
|---|---|
| Controller support | Works correctly |
| Controller icons | Display properly |
| In game text | Legible |
| Default graphics settings | Suitable for Steam Deck |
| Steam Deck rating | Verified |
| Steam Machine rating | Verified |
There are no additional warnings attached to the new verification.
The game has also received Verified status for Steam Machine.
HITMAN Remains a Strong Handheld Game
HITMAN: World of Assassination has long been considered a good match for portable PC gaming because it balances visual quality, performance and battery consumption reasonably well.
The game combines large sandbox environments with detailed graphics, crowds and complex AI systems, yet it has remained playable on the Steam Deck without requiring severe compromises.
That makes the return of the Verified badge notable for players who rely on Valve's compatibility labels when deciding what to install.

The difference between Playable and Verified can be important.
A Playable rating usually means the game works but may require some manual adjustments, such as changing controller settings, using the touchscreen, modifying graphics options or dealing with text that is difficult to read.
Verified games are expected to work more smoothly out of the box.
With HITMAN now returning to Verified status, players should have fewer concerns about those kinds of issues.
The Game Is Also Verified for Steam Machine
The updated compatibility information is not limited to Steam Deck.
HITMAN: World of Assassination is also listed as Verified for Steam Machine.
That expands the relevance of the update beyond handheld players and confirms that the game works well across Valve's broader hardware ecosystem.
No specific technical change was identified as the reason for the restored badge, so it is unclear whether a game update, compatibility adjustment or new testing process led to the change.
What matters for players is that the current version now satisfies the necessary requirements again.
Multiple Editions Are Available
HITMAN: World of Assassination remains available on Steam in several editions.
Players who simply want to try the game can start with Part One, which is priced at $29.99.
The full package brings together content from the modern HITMAN trilogy into a single platform, making it one of the larger stealth sandboxes available on Steam Deck.
The restored Verified badge should make that experience easier to recommend for handheld play.
For players who already own the game, there is nothing special they need to do. The main change is the compatibility label itself, which once again reflects that HITMAN: World of Assassination works properly with Steam Deck's default controls, display and graphics configuration.
