Helldivers 2 has finally added support for modern upscaling technologies on PC, but the update has not gone the way many players hoped. Arrowhead’s new 6.2.5 patch brings NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 3.1.5, Intel XeSS 3.0, NVIDIA Reflex, and AMD Anti Lag 2, but early community feedback says the upscalers are not working properly when set below native resolution.
That is a disappointing result because players had been asking for proper upscaling support for months. Helldivers 2 can be demanding, especially during chaotic missions with heavy enemy counts, explosions, fog, and particle effects. DLSS, FSR, and XeSS should have helped players gain smoother performance without making the image too soft.
Instead, many players say the new implementation looks extremely blurry when using modes such as DLSS Balanced. One Reddit user shared comparison images showing that anything below native resolution appears almost unusable. Other players are reportedly seeing similar problems with AMD FSR and Intel XeSS, suggesting this may not be limited to one vendor’s technology.
The PC patch adds the right features, but the quality is not there yet
On paper, this update should have been a major win for the PC version. The patch includes the key upscalers players expect in modern games, plus latency reduction tools from NVIDIA and AMD.

The problem is that upscaling is only useful if image quality remains acceptable. A good DLSS or FSR mode should improve performance while keeping the picture stable enough to play comfortably. If the output becomes too blurry, then players may prefer native resolution even if performance suffers.

The console side appears to be in a better place. The update raises Performance Mode resolution on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 to 1440p. It also adds VRR support for PS5 and PS5 Pro, Variable Rate Shading on supported devices, and Dynamic Resolution Scaling on PC and PS5.
PlayStation 5 Pro also received PSSR 1.0 support. While some players were disappointed that it did not get a newer version, early impressions suggest the implementation is better than the PC upscalers. Reports mention reduced flickering and less blur, which is exactly the kind of improvement players expected from the PC update too.
This creates an awkward moment for Arrowhead. The studio delivered a long requested feature, but if the implementation feels broken, the update may frustrate players more than if it had been delayed. Helldivers 2 already has a passionate but increasingly impatient community, and technical problems can quickly become another flashpoint.
The best outcome would be a quick follow up patch. If Arrowhead can fix the blur and make DLSS, FSR, and XeSS behave as expected, this update could still become a useful improvement for PC players. The features are now in the game, which is the first step.
For now, though, players may want to test the new upscalers carefully before relying on them. Native resolution or native style modes may still offer the cleanest image until the broken lower resolution modes are fixed. Helldivers 2 finally has the upscaling support fans wanted, but it still needs more work before it feels like the upgrade players were waiting for.
