Google has officially launched its first Googlebook laptop lineup, with models from Acer, Lenovo, ASUS, HP and Dell starting at $899.
The new laptops run Googlebook OS and use hardware ranging from Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors to Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chips and MediaTek SoCs. Preorders are now open in the US, with the first systems expected to reach stores on October 4, 2026.
Google is positioning the platform around Gemini integration, Android app support and cloud based services, while also trying to offer enough performance for productivity and light gaming.
Acer offers the cheapest Googlebook at $899
The Acer Googlebook 14 is the lowest priced model announced so far.
It comes with an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The laptop uses a 14 inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen and is rated for up to 16 hours of battery life.
At 2.51 pounds, it is also designed to remain relatively portable.
Dell's XPS Googlebook is the least expensive Snapdragon based option at $1,199. It uses a 13.4 inch 2.5K LCD touchscreen, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, while weighing around 2.2 pounds. Battery life is rated at up to 18 hours.

The Lenovo Googlebook 15 is priced at $1,099 and also uses an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor.
ASUS moves higher in the range with a Googlebook 14 powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 chip for $1,299, while HP is offering a Snapdragon X Elite Googlebook 14 at the same price.
Googlebook OS puts Gemini at the center
Every Googlebook ships with Googlebook OS and a collection of bundled services.
Google says buyers will receive 12 months of Google AI Pro, which includes up to 5 TB of cloud storage and access to Gemini Advanced tools. The bundle also includes three months of YouTube Premium and Adobe Photoshop.
One of the central interface features is called Magic Pointer.
You can shake the pointer to activate a Gemini mode and then interact directly with items displayed on screen.
For example, you can highlight a training schedule on a website and ask Gemini to add the sessions to Google Calendar. You can also hover over a suspicious email and ask Gemini to analyze its text and images for signs of spam or fraud.
Another feature allows you to select several images and ask Gemini to combine or visualize them without manually downloading and uploading the files.
The operating system also supports Android applications directly, giving Googlebook owners access to mobile apps without requiring a separate Android emulation environment.
Google says Gemini can also be used to create custom widgets.
Gaming support focuses on Android titles and cloud streaming
Googlebook systems can run mobile games available through Google Play, including titles such as Clash Royale.
Native support for major PC games remains more limited.
For demanding AAA releases, Google is currently highlighting cloud streaming services such as GeForce Now. Games including Cyberpunk, Dune Awakening and other major releases are presented primarily through streaming rather than native Googlebook OS versions.
Developers would need to optimize their games specifically for Googlebook OS before those titles could run directly on the laptops.
That means the hardware may be capable of more than the current software library allows, especially on Intel Core Ultra and Snapdragon X Elite configurations.
Preorders are available through major US retailers and Google's own store. US retail availability begins October 4, followed by Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia on October 5.
