GMKtec launches EVO X1 Pro mini PC with Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 and OCuLink support

GMKtec has introduced another high performance mini PC, this time with AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor and support for external graphics through OCuLink. The new EVO X1 Pro is aimed at buyers who want a compact desktop for creative work, gaming, local AI tasks, and heavier multitasking without moving to a full tower PC.

The system follows GMKtec’s recent EVO X3 launch, which used AMD’s higher end Ryzen AI Max Plus 395 chip. The EVO X1 Pro is a step below that model, but it still brings a strong 12 core and 24 thread processor based on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 succeeds the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and combines CPU, integrated graphics, and an NPU for AI workloads.

The mini PC is priced at 9,999 yuan in China, which is about $1,471. That puts it in premium mini PC territory, though its hardware is clearly built for more than basic office use.

One of the key features is OCuLink support. This allows the EVO X1 Pro to connect to an external graphics card, which can make a major difference for gaming and GPU heavy workloads. The built in Radeon 890M graphics should still handle many modern games at medium to high settings, but OCuLink gives you a path to stronger performance when needed.

That flexibility matters because mini PCs often have limited upgrade options. With OCuLink, you can keep the small desktop form factor for everyday use and attach a more powerful GPU setup when gaming or professional work demands it.

The system also includes 64GB of soldered LPDDR5 memory running at 6400 MT per second. That amount of memory should help with demanding software, heavier multitasking, and some local AI workloads. GMKtec pairs it with 1TB of storage, which is a practical starting point at a time when storage supply and pricing remain a concern across the PC hardware market.

The EVO X1 Pro sits between mainstream mini PCs and larger workstation style machines. It is not as extreme as GMKtec’s EVO X3, but it still gives you a strong processor, a large memory configuration, and an external GPU option in a small chassis.

For gamers, the most useful part may be the choice between portability and extra graphics power. You can rely on the Radeon 890M when you want a simple setup, then use OCuLink when you want higher frame rates or better visual settings.

For professionals, the appeal is different. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 470’s NPU and 64GB of memory could make the system useful for local AI tools, productivity software, coding, media work, and other heavy desktop tasks.

The final value will depend on cooling, noise, real world performance, and availability outside China. Still, the EVO X1 Pro shows how quickly premium mini PCs are changing. These systems are no longer limited to light desktop work. GMKtec is clearly trying to make the mini PC a serious option for people who want strong performance in a much smaller footprint.
