Gears of War Reloaded and Dying Light join Xbox Free Play Days this weekend

Xbox players have a new Free Play Days lineup to try this weekend, with Gears of War: Reloaded, Dying Light: Definitive Edition, High On Life 2, and Formula Legends all available for a limited time. The latest promotion runs until Sunday, May 31, at 11:59 PM PT, giving players a few days to test the games before deciding whether to buy them.

This week’s selection is more flexible than usual because half of the games do not require any Game Pass subscription. Gears of War: Reloaded and High On Life 2 are available to all Xbox players during the promotion. That means anyone on supported platforms can jump in without needing Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential.

Gears of War: Reloaded is the biggest name in the lineup. The remaster brings back Microsoft’s classic cover shooter with updated presentation and modern platform support. It is available through Free Play Days on Xbox Series X and S and PC, making it a good chance for players to test how the remaster feels before buying it.

High On Life 2 is also part of the fully free section, though it comes with a five hour trial limit. The sequel brings back Squanch Games’ strange sci fi humor, talking weapons, and action focused gameplay, with skating now added into the mix.

Game Pass members also get Dying Light and Formula Legends for the weekend

The other two games require Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential. Dying Light: Definitive Edition gives subscribers access to Techland’s original open world zombie survival game. It includes the core experience that helped define the series, mixing parkour, melee combat, exploration, and a dangerous day night cycle.

Formula Legends is the racing option this week. It focuses on casual driving through different eras of motorsport, with cars and tracks inspired by multiple decades. It is available on Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC.

Free Play Days is useful because progress usually carries over if you buy the game later, depending on the title. It gives players a low risk way to test a game’s performance, controls, and style before spending money.

Finding the games is simple on Xbox consoles. Open the Store, go to the Home section in the sidebar, then open the Subscriptions tab. The Free Play Days collection should appear there with the available titles.

This week’s lineup has a decent mix. Gears of War: Reloaded is for players who want a classic Xbox shooter, Dying Light is for fans of zombies and open world survival, High On Life 2 offers comedy driven sci fi action, and Formula Legends gives racing fans something lighter to try.
