Gears of War: E-Day is being built with DirectX 12 and is planned for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. The Coalition says the game is designed to provide a strong experience on both consoles and computers rather than treating the PC version as a secondary release.

The studio is also targeting more than high end gaming systems. E-Day is being optimised for enthusiast desktops and more mainstream machines, although final system requirements have not yet been announced.

A recent technology demonstration was captured on Xbox Series X and showed the game running at 60FPS. That indicates the studio is balancing visual ambition with performance on Microsoft’s current console hardware.

Xbox Series S support will present a greater challenge because of its lower graphics and memory resources. The studio has not yet provided final resolution targets, visual settings or frame rate details for either console.

DirectX 12 development across Xbox and PC may help the team share technologies and optimisation work between platforms. However, the final versions will still need separate tuning because of their different hardware limits.

The NVIDIA partnership should not be interpreted as evidence that console players will receive an inferior version. PC will likely offer the highest settings on powerful hardware, while Xbox versions will use fixed configurations chosen by the developer.

Technical ambition will only matter if the game performs consistently. Recent PC releases have faced criticism for shader stutter, unstable frame rates and heavy system requirements, even when their graphics were impressive.

Supporting several upscalers and working directly with a major GPU company may reduce some of those risks, but independent testing will be needed after launch.

Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled to release on October 6, 2026. Its full PC requirements, NVIDIA feature list and console performance modes have not yet been confirmed.
