Gears of War: E-Day has officially gone gold ahead of its October 6 launch, confirming that the main development build is ready for release. Alongside the milestone, the studio has published the final PC system requirements, giving players a clearer idea of the hardware needed for 1080p, 1440p, and 4K gameplay.
The PC version will require 115 GB of SSD storage across all configurations. Hardware ray tracing is also a major part of the game, with reflections, shadows, and global illumination using ray traced effects.
Players will have access to several upscaling technologies to improve performance. Support includes Nvidia DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, Intel XeSS 3.0, and TSR. HDR and ultrawide monitor support are also confirmed.
Gears of War: E-Day PC requirements
| Specification | Minimum | Recommended | Ultra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Target | 1080p at 60 FPS | 1440p at 60 FPS or higher | 4K at 60 FPS or higher |
| Graphics preset | Medium | High | Ultra |
| GPU | RTX 3050, RTX 2060, RX 6600, or RX 7600 | RTX 4060, RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6700 XT, or RX 7700 XT | RTX 4070 Ti or RX 7900 XT |
| CPU | Ryzen 5 2600X, Core i7 6850K, or Core i5 10400 | Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5 11600K | Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Core i7 14700K |
| VRAM | 6 GB | 8 GB | 12 GB |
| RAM | 12 GB | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 115 GB SSD | 115 GB SSD | 115 GB SSD |
The requirements show a fairly wide hardware range. At the minimum level, an RTX 2060, RTX 3050, RX 6600, or RX 7600 is expected to handle the game at 1080p and 60 FPS with the Medium preset when an available upscaling option is used.
The recommended configuration raises the target to 1440p at 60 FPS or above. Here, the game calls for hardware such as an RTX 4060, RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6700 XT, or RX 7700 XT, together with 16 GB of system memory.
For 4K gaming at the Ultra preset, the requirements become considerably higher. An RTX 4070 Ti or RX 7900 XT is listed alongside a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Core i7 14700K. This tier also requires at least 12 GB of graphics memory.
Going gold puts the October launch on firmer ground
Going gold generally means the core game has reached the version considered ready for manufacturing and release. Gears of War: E-Day is also receiving a physical Xbox edition, so this completed build is likely to form the basis of the disc version.

Development can still continue after this stage. Patches, optimizations, and other updates may arrive before or shortly after release, although a day one update has not been confirmed.
Pre installation will begin on September 29 across supported platforms. The standard release is scheduled for October 6 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with availability through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on the same date.
Players who purchase the Premium Edition will receive earlier access beginning October 1.
With the final specifications now available, PC players have enough information to check their systems before pre installation starts. The 115 GB SSD requirement is manageable by current large game standards, while the heavy use of ray tracing means GPU performance and upscaling support are likely to have a significant effect on frame rates, particularly at 1440p and 4K.
