Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Let Story Focused Players Automatically Raise Their Level

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will include an option that automatically raises your character level to the recommended point for the main story, giving players a way to continue without spending extra time on optional content.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi says the feature appears at a certain point in the game and asks whether you want to raise your level automatically. The aim is to make the story path more direct for players who do not want to complete large amounts of side content.

The decision follows feedback from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, where some players felt under leveled if they ignored optional activities and focused mainly on the central storyline.

Level boost is designed for the main story

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation appears to contain a large amount of optional content, but the automatic level adjustment means players will not be forced to complete it simply to keep pace with story encounters.

At a specific stage, the game will offer to raise your level to the recommended value.

That should create a more linear experience closer to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, where players could progress through the main story without spending as much time exploring open world activities.

FeatureHow it works
Automatic level adjustmentRaises your level to the recommended point
AvailabilityAppears at a certain stage
Main purposeHelps story focused players continue without grinding
Optional contentCan still be completed normally
End game battlesMay still require additional progression
Estimated full playtimeMore than 100 hours for a typical extensive playthrough

The feature is optional, so players who prefer traditional progression can continue leveling through combat, exploration and side activities.

Rebirth feedback influenced the change

One concern with Rebirth was that players who skipped optional content could fall behind the expected level curve.

That was less of a problem for players who explored extensively, but it could make the main story more difficult for anyone trying to move through the game quickly.

Revelation is addressing that directly.

Instead of requiring every player to complete side quests or open world activities for experience, the game will allow story focused players to catch up automatically.

This is especially relevant because Revelation is expected to be a very large game.

Hamaguchi has previously said a typical playthrough can exceed 100 hours, depending on how much content the player completes.

Streamlined progression has already appeared in earlier games

The idea is similar to the Streamlined Progression options added to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Rebirth on newer platforms.

Those settings can significantly reduce the difficulty of progression by maximizing resources such as health, MP and ATB during combat.

They can also increase damage output to as much as 9,999 per hit.

The new Revelation system appears more focused.

Rather than broadly changing combat balance, it specifically adjusts your level to keep the main story moving.

That makes it more suitable for players who still want to experience normal combat but do not want to spend extra hours grinding.

End game content will still demand preparation

The automatic level boost does not appear to remove progression requirements from every part of the game.

Optional end game content, including battles involving the WEAPONs, may still require additional grinding, equipment upgrades and character preparation.

That keeps a clear distinction between finishing the story and completing the hardest optional challenges.

Players interested mainly in the narrative can use the level adjustment to stay on pace, while those who want to tackle high level encounters will still have reasons to explore the wider game.

Revelation is balancing two types of players

The new system reflects the challenge of designing a large RPG for different audiences.

Some players want to explore every region, complete side quests and optimize their party.

Others are mainly interested in seeing how the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy ends.

Automatic level adjustment gives both groups more freedom.

You can still engage with the full progression system if you want the traditional RPG experience, but the game will also provide a way to stay focused on the main storyline without becoming under leveled.

For a game that can easily stretch beyond 100 hours, that flexibility could make the final chapter more approachable without removing the optional challenges built around deeper progression.
