Fallout 4 gets massive Xbox Creations storage boost on May 27

Bethesda is finally giving Fallout 4 players on Xbox much more room for Creations, with a major console update set for May 27. The biggest upgrade is coming to Xbox Series X and Series S, where Creations storage will become scalable up to 100GB. That is a huge jump from the old 2GB limit and should make modded Fallout 4 much more flexible on modern Xbox consoles.

Creations are Bethesda’s official system for adding extra content to Fallout 4, including mods and other community made additions. On Xbox, the storage cap has always been one of the biggest frustrations. The 2GB limit forced players to choose carefully, especially when larger mods could take a big part of that space by themselves. With the new 100GB limit on Series X and S, players should be able to install far more content and use bigger projects that were not practical before.

Xbox Series X and S players get the biggest upgrade, while older consoles and PlayStation also get more space

Bethesda says the update will also increase storage on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, but those platforms are getting a smaller boost. Their Creations storage will rise to around 15GB. That is still a clear improvement over the previous 1GB or 2GB limits, but it is much smaller than the 100GB available on Xbox Series X and S.

PlayStation 4Around 15GB
PlayStation 5Around 15GB

The difference between Xbox Series X and S and the other platforms is notable. Bethesda has not explained why Microsoft’s current consoles are getting such a large increase while PS5 remains at around 15GB. For Xbox players, though, it makes the Series X and S versions much stronger options for anyone who wants to spend serious time with Fallout 4 mods.

There is one important step before the update arrives. Bethesda is warning players to save their existing Creations load order before May 27 because the update will reset it by default. That matters because load order can affect whether mods work correctly. If you already use Creations, saving your setup now could save you from rebuilding everything manually after the update.

The larger storage cap also raises one obvious question: could Fallout London come to Xbox? The popular fan project has been one of the most discussed Fallout mods in recent years, and a 100GB limit would remove one major barrier. However, that does not mean it will automatically happen. The Fallout London team has previously said it would need help from Bethesda to create a standalone Xbox version, so this storage update alone may not be enough.

Still, the update is a strong sign that Bethesda wants Fallout 4 to remain active on console. The game is now more than a decade old, but it still has a large audience, especially after the Fallout series brought new attention to the franchise. Expanding Creations storage gives players another reason to return, rebuild their mod lists, and treat the Commonwealth like a more open sandbox.

For Xbox Series X and S owners, this is one of the most meaningful Fallout 4 console updates in years. The move from 2GB to 100GB changes what is possible for modded play, especially for players who have avoided console mods because the old limit felt too restrictive. The only real warning is to prepare your load order before May 27. After that, Fallout 4 on Xbox should become a much better home for larger and more ambitious Creations.
