FYI: The latest version of ESET Nod32 running on the latest Windows 11 (Home) with high-end PC specs really makes these things painfully slow (30 seconds):

    1. Opening MS Office files
    2. Extracting zipped files (e.g., MS Office files that were zipped).

After deactivating Nod32, the files open and unzip almost instantly. Yes, Defender was disabled when Nod32 was enabled. I think I’m going to uninstall Nod32 and install my paid version of Malwarebytes. There is no use to having a high-end system bogged down like this. I will look for a solution though.

I have read so many articles claiming to be the “Latest and the Greatest anti-virus software that my head is spinning.

If you are an advanced anti-virus expert you are most likely to have already
installed software to protect you from unwanted spyware and the various virus threats that are out there.

What we “Older” individuals need is something that is easy to install and setup and manage without usurping too much of our available computing power and does not constantly ask us for money. Most of the so-called “Free” antivirus providers let you use an abbreviated version and then try to sell you the “Deluxe, “Super-Duty” version!! There will always be individuals that want to see how many computers they can foul up just for the sake of doing it. That is a given!! and we will never be able to stop it. My suggestion is to find antivirus software that you have learned how to install and use it’s benefits. Keep it updated and be as careful as you can.
