Dispatch is officially coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on July 29, 2026, bringing one of 2025’s most praised narrative games to Microsoft’s consoles.
The game combines choice-driven storytelling with workplace comedy and light management systems. You play as Robert Robertson, also known as Mecha Man, after his suit is destroyed during a confrontation with his enemy. Unable to continue working as a traditional superhero, he takes a job at a dispatch centre responsible for sending heroes to emergencies.
The Xbox release will support Xbox Play Anywhere. Buying the game digitally on console will also provide access through the Xbox PC app, with supported progress expected to carry between the two platforms.
A final Xbox price has not been announced. The expected cost is around £24.99 in the UK and $29.99 in the United States, although players should wait for the store listing before treating those figures as confirmed.

Dispatch combines narrative choices with superhero management
Dispatch shares some qualities with older Telltale adventures and games such as Life is Strange, but it adds a management system that gives the player more direct responsibility.
Much of the story revolves around conversations, relationships and decisions. Choices can affect how characters respond to Robert and how events develop over time. Quick-time sequences also appear during more active scenes.
The dispatch system forms the main gameplay layer outside the story. Players must select which superheroes should respond to different emergencies, considering their individual strengths, weaknesses and personalities.
Sending the wrong hero may lead to failure or create another problem. Choosing the right combination can improve results and help members of the team develop.
This structure allows the game to move between scripted workplace comedy and strategic decisions without becoming a full management simulation.
The story follows a former hero managing ex-villains
Robert begins the game after losing access to the technology that allowed him to operate as Mecha Man.
He takes a less glamorous position as a dispatcher while trying to rebuild his damaged suit and find another opportunity to confront his nemesis. His new responsibility involves managing a team of former supervillains who are attempting to become useful members of society.
The group is described as dysfunctional and difficult to control. Players must manage their abilities while dealing with office relationships, personal conflicts and the consequences of earlier choices.

This gives Dispatch a different perspective from most superhero games. Instead of focusing entirely on combat and destruction, it examines the people responsible for organising heroes and responding to problems from behind a desk.
Robert’s position also creates tension between his past identity and his current role. He still wants to return to active hero work, but his success depends partly on whether he can lead others.
Xbox Play Anywhere should suit handheld and PC players
Xbox Play Anywhere is one of the most useful parts of the upcoming release.
A digital Xbox purchase will include access through the Xbox PC app, allowing players to move between a console and compatible Windows hardware without buying the game again.
Dispatch should be well suited to handheld devices because it relies on dialogue, choices and management rather than fast competitive action. Its structure may work well for shorter sessions on systems such as the ROG Xbox Ally.
Players should still confirm the final store listing for details about cloud saves, achievements and supported devices. Play Anywhere titles normally share progress and achievements, but the exact implementation should be checked at launch.
The feature may also make the Xbox version more attractive than buying separate console and PC copies elsewhere.
The Xbox version arrives after a strong 2025 reception
Dispatch first released in 2025 and developed a positive reputation among players who enjoy narrative games.
Its comparisons with The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us reflect its emphasis on character relationships and difficult choices. However, the dispatch mechanic gives it a separate identity rather than making it a direct copy of those games.
The Xbox release arrives later than versions on other platforms, but the inclusion of Play Anywhere adds useful value for Microsoft’s audience.
There is no indication that Dispatch will launch through Xbox Game Pass. Unless another announcement is made, players should expect it to be a standard paid release.
Dispatch will be available on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S from July 29. Pricing, preload details and exact launch timing are expected to appear through the Xbox Store closer to release.
