Microsoft is expanding its Xbox partnership with Discord by adding Xbox Game Pass access to Discord Nitro. Eligible Nitro members can now get a Starter Edition of Xbox Game Pass where the offer is available.
The new benefit gives Discord Nitro members a limited way to try Game Pass without signing up through Xbox directly. Microsoft has not shared the full game list in its latest announcement, but the company confirmed that the offer is now official after earlier leaks pointed to a Starter Edition tied to Discord Nitro.
The integration is also being added directly inside Discord. When someone sees a friend playing a supported game through a stream or Discord activity, they can press the “Play” button and choose Xbox Game Pass to start playing. This makes Game Pass feel more connected to Discord’s social features, especially for players who often discover games through friends.

Microsoft also says eligible Xbox Game Pass subscribers will receive Discord Nitro benefits later this month. These perks will include 250 Discord Orbs every month, 1.2x extra Orbs when completing Quests, and automatic discounts in the Discord Shop.
The move gives both companies something useful. Discord gets a stronger gaming subscription perk for Nitro, while Microsoft gets another way to put Game Pass in front of players who already use Discord for gaming communities, voice chat, and livestreams.
Earlier leaks suggested that the Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition could include more than 50 games, 10 hours of cloud gaming per month, and Xbox Rewards support. Microsoft has not confirmed those details in the new announcement, so the final offer may vary by region or account eligibility.
The bigger question is whether Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition will stay as a Discord Nitro benefit or become a separate paid Game Pass tier later. Microsoft has not confirmed any standalone plan yet.
For now, this looks like a smart way to make Game Pass easier to try. Instead of asking players to search for a subscription, Microsoft is placing access inside Discord, where many gaming sessions and group chats already begin.
