Dell has introduced a new Deskside Agentic AI workstation lineup designed to move advanced AI agent workloads from the cloud to local machines. The systems were announced at Dell Technologies World 2026 and are being built with NVIDIA as part of the Dell AI Factory partnership.
The idea is simple: as AI agents become more powerful and stay active for longer, the cost of cloud tokens can rise quickly. Dell wants companies to run those workloads on local workstations instead, reducing cloud API spending while keeping sensitive data inside the organization.
Dell claims companies could break even against cloud API costs in as little as three months. Over two years, it says local agentic AI systems could cut operational costs by up to 87 percent. That is a strong pitch for teams already spending heavily on AI services.
The second major focus is data control. For industries such as finance, healthcare, defense, manufacturing, legal, and life sciences, sending sensitive information to third party cloud systems may not always be acceptable. A local workstation gives those teams more control over where data lives and how AI agents use it.

The software stack is also important. NVIDIA OpenShell, a secure runtime for autonomous agents, is now supported across the full Dell AI Factory lineup. That means teams can start with deskside workstations and scale up to larger PowerEdge XE servers while using a more consistent agent deployment and governance model.

Dell is also using NVIDIA NemoClaw, an open source reference stack built on the OpenClaw framework. This is meant to support persistent AI workflows that keep running locally instead of depending entirely on cloud services.
The most powerful system in the lineup, the Dell Pro Max with GB300, is aimed at frontier level inference on very large models. Dell says its MaxCool liquid cooling helps keep the system operating within its thermal limits, which matters when handling this level of AI hardware under a desk or near a workgroup.
Dell is also backing the launch with services that cover deployment, workflow planning, and AI skills gaps. Partnerships with companies such as Google, Hugging Face, OpenAI, ServiceNow, and others are part of the broader ecosystem push.
The announcement shows where enterprise AI hardware is heading. Many companies started with cloud AI because it was easier to access and scale. But as AI agents become more constant, more complex, and more expensive to run, local hardware starts to look more practical for certain workloads.
Dell has not announced pricing or availability yet. That will matter because these systems are clearly aimed at serious business, research, and enterprise use rather than normal desktop buyers.
Still, the direction is clear. Dell is betting that the next stage of AI will not live only in the cloud. For companies worried about token costs, privacy, latency, or control, powerful deskside AI workstations could become a serious alternative.
