Yeah, but deleting the app doesn’t the ability to download the app again w/o having to put in my password. There is–forever–a download symbol under the app on the app store. How do I make that go away?

I’m using iOS 13.4 on my iPad pro, I have tried holding the app, it wiggles and gives me 2 options share app or edit home screen, I tap on edit home screen and it does nothing I don’t get the delete option, I have also tried the iPad storage option to delete apps but there is no delete option or dustbin symbol, I guess it’s because I don’t want to update my iPad, this seems very sneaky.

NONE of the methods in this article to delete apps work on my iPhone 6, running iOS 12.5.3.
Even pressing and holding an app on the home screen does not generate a menu. The app DOES giggle, so you can move it, but that’s it. None of the other methods have the menu choices shown in the article? Another bad move by Apple?
Any suggestions??
