Dandelion Is Returning in The Witcher 4, but His Songs of the Past Role May Be Limited

Dandelion is set to return in The Witcher 4, according to comments from the character's Polish voice actor, although his involvement in The Witcher 3's upcoming Songs of the Past expansion may be smaller than expected.

Jacek Kopczyński, who voices Dandelion in Polish, discussed the character during a panel at PSX Extreme Party 2026. He said he learned about Dandelion's role in Songs of the Past while recording material for The Witcher 4.

That effectively confirms the bard will appear in the next main Witcher game, which is expected to shift the series' focus from Geralt to Ciri.

Voice Work Confirms Dandelion's Return

Kopczyński said he discovered details about the upcoming Witcher 3 expansion while recording lines connected to The Witcher 4.

That means Dandelion's presence in the next mainline game appears to be more than speculation.

CD Projekt RED has not yet detailed how large his role will be, but his return suggests at least some continuity with characters from Geralt's era even as Ciri takes over as the main protagonist.

Other returning characters have not yet been confirmed in the same way.

His Expansion Role Is Still Unclear

The more uncertain part concerns Songs of the Past.

Kopczyński said he is still waiting to be invited to the studio to record his dialogue for the expansion.

That stands out because Songs of the Past is expected to explore Dandelion's family and personal history.

If recording has not yet begun for such a central character, it could mean his direct screen time is smaller than players might expect.

However, that remains an inference rather than confirmation.

Voice recording schedules can vary, and the actor's work may simply be planned for a later stage of production.

Songs of the Past Is Tied to Dandelion's Background

The upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3 is expected to focus on Dandelion's family and origins.

That makes his exact involvement especially interesting.

A story built around his background could still feature him indirectly through other characters, documents, memories, or events even if he is not physically present for much of the expansion.

Previous information has also suggested that Geralt will return as part of the new content.

The expansion is currently planned for 2027.

Dandelion's Presence Helps Connect the Old and New Games

The Witcher 4 represents a major transition for the series because Ciri is taking over the central role.

Bringing back Dandelion gives CD Projekt RED a familiar character who can connect the older trilogy with the new story.

His relationship with Geralt has been important throughout both the books and the games, but his role in Ciri's story could develop in a different direction.

The studio has not revealed whether Dandelion will be a major supporting character, a brief returning figure, or something in between.

For now, the strongest confirmation is that he is part of The Witcher 4, while his role in Songs of the Past remains less clear despite the expansion's apparent connection to his family history.
