Crimson Desert Patch 2.03.00 Improves Ray Tracing and Adds DLSS Ray Reconstruction Updates

Crimson Desert has received another post launch update, with patch 2.03.00 bringing several gameplay fixes, mobility improvements and better ray traced image quality on supported NVIDIA hardware.

The update is available across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. It arrives only a few weeks after the Enhanced version of the game and ahead of the Charting the Unknown expansion scheduled for October 15.

One of the most notable technical changes is an update to the NVIDIA Streamline SDK, which now uses a newer transformer model for DLSS Ray Reconstruction.

DLSS Ray Reconstruction gets a newer model

Patch 2.03.00 updates NVIDIA Streamline to version 2.14.1.

That change applies the latest transformer model to DLSS Ray Reconstruction, which is designed to improve image quality when ray tracing is enabled.

Ray Reconstruction replaces several traditional denoising steps with an AI based approach that attempts to produce cleaner reflections, lighting and other ray traced effects.

The improvement will matter mainly to players using compatible NVIDIA RTX graphics cards with ray tracing enabled.

Ray Reconstruction remains demanding, so the strongest benefits are likely to be seen on higher end GPUs capable of running the game's ray traced effects at stable performance levels.

New Game players receive extra Silver

The patch also changes how the game handles players starting a new playthrough from existing save data.

Those players now receive at least 1,000 Silver through stackable Silver Pouches.

The change is intended to reduce some of the early game grind for players returning after finishing the game previously.

It does not restore all equipment from an earlier run, so players still need to collect their gear again.

The extra currency instead provides a small head start during the early stages of the new playthrough.

Water Stride becomes more flexible

Water Stride, one of the abilities added in the Enhanced release, has also been expanded.

Players can now jump while running across water.

When Vaporwalker is equipped, the character can also slide while using the ability.

These additions make Water Stride more useful as a traversal system rather than limiting it to straightforward movement across the surface.

The changes also fit with the broader focus on mobility introduced through the Enhanced version.

Photo Mode receives finer camera control

Photo Mode now includes a Precise Movement option.

The feature allows smaller and more controlled camera adjustments, which should make it easier to frame screenshots accurately.

This is a minor addition compared with the graphics changes, but it gives players more control when capturing landscapes, combat scenes and character shots.

Several quest and race bugs have been fixed

Patch 2.03.00 also resolves a collection of gameplay issues.

One fix addresses horse races where opposing horses could move too quickly.

Another corrects missions that were supposed to require a waiting period but could sometimes be advanced immediately.

Combat missions should also no longer be canceled after saving and loading following dispatch.

The update also changes the Lumberjacks' Witness Report poster so that it continues spawning until it has been read.

A separate fix corrects the location of a guide NPC when retrying the Shadowed Secrets quest.

These are smaller changes, but together they improve consistency across several activities.

Pearl Abyss continues frequent post launch updates

Patch 2.03.00 is relatively modest compared with some of the larger updates Crimson Desert has already received, but it continues the studio's steady post launch support.

The most important change for PC players is the newer DLSS Ray Reconstruction model, particularly for systems already capable of running ray tracing.

At the same time, mobility updates, bug fixes and the new Silver bonus make the patch useful beyond graphics.

With the Charting the Unknown expansion arriving on October 15, the larger additions are likely being reserved for that release. For now, patch 2.03.00 focuses on refining existing systems and improving the technical presentation of the game.
