Cooler Master and G.Skill bring active cooling directly to DDR5 memory

Cooler Master and G.Skill have teamed up on a new DDR5 memory design that adds active cooling directly to the RAM module. The new product is called MasterDIMM AC, and it combines G.Skill developed DDR5 memory with a Cooler Master heatsink that includes a small built in fan.

That makes it different from normal DDR5 modules, which usually rely on passive metal heatsinks to spread heat away from the memory chips. MasterDIMM AC goes a step further by using active airflow on the memory itself, aiming to keep temperatures lower during heavy workloads, overclocking, gaming, AI tasks, and professional computing.

The idea is simple: CPUs and GPUs already get serious cooling, but memory is also being pushed harder as DDR5 speeds climb. As higher frequency kits become more common, keeping RAM stable under load is becoming more important.

MasterDIMM AC targets high speed DDR5 with lower temperatures

According to the announcement, MasterDIMM AC can deliver up to a 15 degree Celsius thermal improvement while keeping noise to a maximum of 35 dB. That suggests Cooler Master and G.Skill are trying to make active RAM cooling useful without making it too loud for regular desktop systems.

The memory will be offered with either AMD EXPO or Intel XMP 3.0 profiles. The AMD EXPO version is listed at up to 6000 MT/s with CL26 latency, while the Intel XMP 3.0 version can reach up to 8400 MT/s.

Those two profiles show that the product is not only about raw speed. The AMD version appears focused on lower latency, while the Intel version pushes much higher frequency. That makes sense because memory tuning often depends on the platform, memory controller, motherboard, and BIOS support.

The built in fan sits inside a thicker heatsink design. That may help the module maintain stability during long sessions where memory is under constant stress. It could be useful for enthusiasts who run demanding workloads, overclockers chasing stable high speed DDR5, and builders who want every major component in their system to stay cooler.

There is also a practical reason this kind of product may become more common. DDR5 speeds are continuing to rise, and newer memory designs such as CUDIMM are pushing frequency targets even higher. As performance increases, simple passive cooling may not always be enough for premium kits, especially inside compact or airflow limited cases.

That said, active memory cooling will not be necessary for most everyday PCs. Standard DDR5 with normal heatsinks is still enough for general gaming, office work, browsing, and typical productivity. MasterDIMM AC is clearly aimed at high end systems where speed, stability, and thermal control matter more.

Cooler Master and G.Skill have not yet announced pricing or availability. More details are expected around Computex 2026, where the companies will show the new modules in person.

For now, MasterDIMM AC is another sign that desktop memory is becoming more performance focused. RAM is no longer just a quiet component sitting beside the CPU cooler. In high end builds, it is becoming another part of the system that may need its own dedicated cooling solution.
