Cooler Master and G.Skill are working together on a new DDR5 memory design that adds active cooling directly to the RAM module. The product is called MasterDIMM AC DDR5, and it will be shown at Computex as a high performance memory kit built for systems that need stronger cooling under heavy workloads.
The idea is unusual but not completely surprising. Modern DDR5 memory is already pushing high speeds, and newer systems are also being asked to handle heavier workloads such as AI, content creation, workstation tasks, and high end gaming. Cooler Master and G.Skill appear to be targeting buyers who want faster memory while keeping temperatures under tighter control.
The MasterDIMM AC uses a thick heatsink with a small integrated fan. That gives it a more aggressive design than a normal DDR5 stick, and it also means the module will likely need more clearance inside a PC case. This may not be ideal for every build, especially compact systems, but it could appeal to enthusiasts who already use large coolers, high airflow cases, and premium components.
The memory kits target high speed operation with lower temperatures
Cooler Master says the kits will be offered in capacities up to 128GB, using two 64GB modules. The company also says the memory will support AMD EXPO profiles up to DDR5 6000 at CL26, while Intel XMP 3.0 versions in DDR5 CU DIMM form can reach up to DDR5 8400.

The cooling claim is the most important part. Cooler Master says the design can reduce memory temperatures by around 15 degrees Celsius. That could matter for systems running long workloads, especially if memory heat becomes a limiting factor for stability.
Noise is another concern because adding a fan to RAM immediately raises questions about acoustics. Cooler Master says the blower fan is noise optimized and designed to stay below 35 decibels. That is not silent, but it should be relatively quiet if the claim holds up in real systems.

The bigger question is whether most people need active cooling on DDR5. Many high speed DDR5 kits already run without fans, and most gaming PCs do not push memory hard enough to require extra cooling. For a normal desktop build, this may be more luxury than necessity.
But for extreme builds, benchmarking, workstation use, and heavy memory workloads, active cooling could make more sense. It may also become more relevant as memory speeds rise and newer CU DIMM designs push higher frequencies.
Pricing has not been announced yet, but this will almost certainly cost more than standard DDR5 memory. The extra cooler, fan, collaboration branding, and high speed profiles all point toward a premium product.
The timing is also interesting because memory prices are rising due to heavy AI demand and broader supply pressure. That could make premium RAM kits even more expensive in 2026. Buyers who only need basic gaming memory may not want to pay extra for active cooling, especially when standard DDR5 is already costly.
Still, MasterDIMM AC is a notable experiment. Cooler Master brings the cooling expertise, G.Skill brings the memory reputation, and together they are trying to treat RAM thermals as seriously as CPU and GPU cooling. It may not be for everyone, but it shows where enthusiast memory could be heading as systems get faster, hotter, and more demanding.
