Cinder City Could Become One of the First PC Games to Recommend 64GB of RAM

Cinder City may be one of the first major PC games to list 64GB of RAM as its recommended memory requirement. The upcoming sci-fi third-person shooter has now received a Steam page, revealing unusually high system requirements for a game that combines cinematic combat, open-world exploration, and large-scale multiplayer PvE content.

The game will technically run with 32GB of RAM, but the recommended specification doubles that figure. That could make Cinder City difficult to play at its best for many PC gamers, especially at a time when memory prices are already rising.

Developed by Big Fire Games and published by NC, Cinder City is set in a futuristic version of Seoul where mutants, criminal groups, and powerful factions have transformed the city into a dangerous battleground. Players take the role of Seven, one of the enhanced soldiers known as Cinder Knights, during a story that begins with a mission to rescue his daughter.

Cinder City Combines Story Missions With MMO-Style PvE

Cinder City is not being positioned as a standard single-player shooter. The developers describe it as a cinematic third-person action game with a large open world and persistent multiplayer PvE activities.

That structure could explain why the game has demanding memory requirements. Open-world games need to keep large areas, textures, character data, mission content, effects, and network activity loaded at the same time. Multiplayer systems can add further pressure by tracking other players, enemies, events, and shared world changes.

The studio says the game will include a narrative campaign alongside cooperative activities that allow multiple players to take on challenges together.

The graphics card requirements are comparatively modest. An RTX 2060 is listed as the minimum GPU, while an RTX 4060 is recommended. That makes the 64GB RAM recommendation stand out even more.

Why 64GB of RAM Is an Unusual Recommendation

Most modern PC games still recommend 16GB or 32GB of RAM. A few demanding titles can benefit from 32GB, especially when running high-resolution textures, background programs, browser tabs, mods, recording tools, or streaming software.

A recommendation of 64GB suggests that the developers expect the game to use substantial system memory under higher settings or in busier multiplayer areas.

That does not necessarily mean every player will need 64GB to enjoy Cinder City. Recommended specifications are often aimed at delivering smoother performance, reducing stutter, or supporting more demanding settings. The final performance picture will only become clear once the game is available and tested on a range of systems.

The High RAM Requirement Could Be a Warning Sign or a Sign of Ambition

The requirements may reflect a technically ambitious game with large areas, dense environments, and extensive online systems. They could also indicate that optimization is still in progress.

Cinder City is still expected to launch in 2026, although its Steam page does not list a specific release date. As development continues, the requirements could change before release.

For now, the game’s Steam listing is a reminder that PC hardware demands are continuing to rise. Players planning to upgrade for Cinder City may need to think beyond their GPU, especially if the final version truly benefits from 64GB of RAM.
