Blizzard is not announcing console versions of Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft: Forever or Heroes of the Storm, but developers behind all three games have left the possibility open.
The common message from Blizzard is that PC remains the priority for now.
At the same time, none of the teams ruled out future releases on Xbox, PlayStation or other consoles, especially as Blizzard continues expanding more of its games beyond PC.
Warcraft 3 remains focused on PC
Warcraft 3 recently received renewed attention with Forsaken Kingdom, its first major expansion in more than two decades.
When asked whether the real time strategy game could eventually appear on Xbox or other consoles, Project Lead Brad Chan said the team may discuss the idea but is currently focused on PC.
That response does not confirm a port, but it also stops short of rejecting one.
| Game | Current platform focus | Console position |
|---|---|---|
| Warcraft 3 | PC | Possible, but not planned publicly |
| World of Warcraft: Forever | PC | Future possibilities remain open |
| Heroes of the Storm | PC | Other platforms considered long term |
| WoW controller support | Native gamepad support on PC | Already implemented |
Warcraft 3 would likely present the largest control challenge because traditional RTS games depend heavily on mouse input, unit selection and rapid command management.
Other strategy games have shown that controller adaptations can work, but Blizzard has not announced any work on such a version.
WoW Forever adds native controller support
World of Warcraft: Forever presents a more interesting case.
The game includes native gamepad support on PC, including Xbox style controls, eliminating the need for community solutions that previously made controller play possible.
The layout supports interface shortcuts, radial menus and dozens of keybind combinations through trigger and face button combinations.
Game Director Ion Hazzikostas stressed that this support was designed for gamepads in general and should not be interpreted as confirmation of an Xbox version.
Blizzard's main goal is to make WoW easier to play for PC players who prefer controllers.
Still, Hazzikostas acknowledged that several possibilities could exist in the future.
He also suggested that the slower combat of Classic style World of Warcraft may be better suited to controllers than modern retail WoW.
Older versions rely less heavily on rapid ability rotations and systems such as Haste, which could make their combat easier to translate to console input.
WoW Forever could be technically easier to port
World of Warcraft: Forever is based on the older visual direction of the game, which means its hardware demands should be relatively modest compared with newer games.
That could make it technically possible to run on a wide range of modern devices.
The harder challenge would likely involve interface design, platform services, account systems and making sure controller based players can comfortably handle every part of the game.

Native gamepad support already solves part of that problem.
For now, however, Blizzard continues to describe Forever as a PC project.
Heroes of the Storm team is focused on rebuilding the game
Heroes of the Storm is also returning to active development, beginning with new content including the hero Xal'atath.
Lead developer James Yen said the team thinks about different places the game could eventually go, including other platforms, but expanding too quickly could distract from its immediate priorities.
The current goal is to support the community that remained with Heroes of the Storm and establish a steady flow of new content.
That makes console or mobile expansion a longer term consideration rather than an immediate objective.
A console version would nevertheless be technically plausible.
Other MOBAs have demonstrated that gamepad controls can work effectively, especially when abilities and movement are redesigned around controller input.
Heroes of the Storm could potentially benefit from reaching audiences outside PC, but Blizzard has not committed to that strategy.
Blizzard is becoming more open to console releases
The broader direction of Blizzard makes these possibilities more realistic than they might have seemed several years ago.
Diablo has long had strong console support, while Diablo 4 is expanding to Nintendo Switch 2.
World of Warcraft now has native gamepad controls on PC.
Microsoft's ownership of Blizzard also gives the studio a direct relationship with the Xbox ecosystem.
None of that means Warcraft 3, WoW Forever or Heroes of the Storm are definitely coming to consoles.
Each development team remains focused on its existing PC audience.
However, Blizzard's responses consistently avoid closing the door.
For now, Warcraft 3 and Heroes of the Storm remain firmly PC focused, while World of Warcraft: Forever's native controller support provides the clearest technical foundation for a future console version if Blizzard eventually decides to pursue one.
