Battlefield 6 Season 4 Adds Top Gun Crossover and Carrier Strike Mode

Battlefield 6 is preparing to expand its fourth season with a Top Gun crossover that introduces new aircraft, themed characters, cosmetic items, and a large scale mode built around aircraft carrier battles.

The crossover begins on August 18, 2026, as part of the second phase of Season 4. It will bring the F 18 Super Hornet and F 14 Tomcat into the game, giving players more options for aerial combat across Battlefield 6’s larger maps.

Three characters from Top Gun will also appear in the game with voices provided by their original actors. Miles Teller returns as Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, Lewis Pullman voices Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd, and Charles Parnell appears as Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates.

Top Gun inspired character skins and other cosmetic items will be available alongside the gameplay additions.

Carrier Strike brings back the spirit of Titan mode

The main new mode is called Carrier Strike. Two teams will fight to destroy the opposing side’s aircraft carrier while defending their own vessel.

The structure should feel familiar to long time Battlefield players who remember Titan mode. That mode combined large scale ground and vehicle combat with an objective focused final assault against a massive enemy craft.

Carrier Strike adapts that idea to naval warfare. Players can expect aircraft, ships, infantry combat, and coordinated attacks to play important roles. Exact rules have not yet been fully detailed, but attacking or defending operational carriers should create battles across several areas of the map.

The crossover also fits naturally with Battlefield’s focus on large maps and combined arms warfare. Fighter jets have long been part of the series, and the addition of recognisable aircraft from Top Gun gives the season a stronger focus on aerial combat.

Season 4 starts with the Pacific Front

Before the Top Gun content arrives, Battlefield 6 Season 4 begins on July 21 with the Pacific Front update.

This first phase introduces Tsuru Reef, described as the largest map currently available in the game. The map will support naval combat and include aircraft carriers with working flight decks.

Operational decks should give aircraft a clearer role in the flow of each match. Players may be able to launch from carriers, defend them from attack, and use them as important strategic positions during battles.

The update also introduces a Dynamic Wave System. This feature is expected to change water conditions during matches, potentially affecting boats, visibility, movement, and combat near shorelines.

The combination of large maps, naval vehicles, and changing water conditions could make Season 4 one of the most ambitious updates released for Battlefield 6 so far.

Wake Island returns in the second phase

Wake Island will return on August 18 alongside the Top Gun crossover.

The map is one of the most recognisable locations in Battlefield history. Its curved island layout and mixture of infantry, ground vehicles, boats, and aircraft make it a suitable addition to a season focused on naval and aerial warfare.

The return of Wake Island may also help balance the crossover content with a familiar Battlefield experience. Players who are less interested in cosmetic collaborations will still receive a classic map and new gameplay options.

The final phase of Season 4 begins on September 15. It will add more naval events and rewards before the season ends.

The Top Gun crossover is the first major collaboration announced for Battlefield 6. It expands the game without replacing its core structure, using aircraft and carrier warfare that already fit the series’ identity.

Carrier Strike will likely be the most important addition for long time players. If it captures the scale and objective design of Titan mode, it could become one of the strongest multiplayer experiences in Season 4.
