ASUS has shown off a custom ROG Xbox Ally X inspired by Cyberpunk 2077, and it may be one of the best looking versions of the handheld so far. The bad news is that you cannot buy it.
The special unit was created by AK Mod, a custom hardware artist known for detailed case mods. ASUS describes it as a one of a kind project, although there are only three units in existence. That makes it less of a retail product and more of a showcase piece for what a themed ROG Xbox Ally X could look like.
The design takes clear inspiration from Night City. The handheld uses a bold yellow finish, layered spray paint, custom water decals, weathering effects, scratches, scuffs, and worn details to make it look like it belongs in the Cyberpunk 2077 world.

The most impressive part is that the mod does not look like a simple sticker job. ASUS says AK Mod used layered paint, specialized weathering, and targeted wear effects to make the device feel natural and imperfect. That fits Cyberpunk 2077 well because the game’s world is bright, damaged, stylish, and rough at the same time.
The base also includes subtle references to Johnny Silverhand’s guitar, which gives the project more personality than a normal limited edition color swap. It feels closer to functional art than a standard hardware skin.
This custom ROG Xbox Ally X also shows why themed handhelds could work well. Gaming handhelds are becoming more personal devices, much like controllers and laptops. A Cyberpunk themed model, a Forza edition, or a Halo edition could appeal to fans who want hardware that feels tied to the games they love.
For now, though, this Cyberpunk 2077 version is only a showcase. ASUS has not announced plans to sell it, and with only three units made, it is unlikely that normal buyers will ever get one.
Still, the project may give ASUS and Xbox a useful idea. The standard ROG Xbox Ally X already has strong hardware, but custom editions could make it feel more exciting in a crowded handheld market. If ASUS ever turns this kind of design into a real retail product, it would likely attract plenty of attention.
The Cyberpunk 2077 ROG Xbox Ally X is rare, heavily customized, and probably impossible to own. But it proves that the handheld has serious potential for special editions, especially when the design is handled with this much care.
