Few router reviews I have seen ever mention the limit on the physical number of connections the device can support. Memory limits also impact performance. This is perhaps more of a PITA to trial/simulate for anyone doing a review, but as people connect more and more IoT appliances to their network, physical connection limits and RAM performance bottlenecks start to impact with symptoms like random connection problems.

I use smart connect with alterations to the rules so devices are moved to a better connection quicker. I also run in Tri-band front and back haul. Now what I have learned for my system leave QOS, AI Protection, and any feature using USB off. Memory is too stretched the app looses connection and at times you can’t login to the router without a reboot.

I think it is a good idea to disable Smart Connect, for improved performance.
